Very cool box, don't know anything about it but I like it. If I was to guess I would say late 1800's to early 1900's.

The fact that it says American Tobacco successor on the box probably means that it is sometime after 1906 or when they broke up Duke's monopoly.

Marburg Bros. was purchased by the American Tobacco Company in 1891. Advertisements after this in the 1890's for Marburg Bros. products say "The American Tobacco Company Succesor."

I've seen them from as early as 1895 and here's one from 1898.

at the tax stamp and comparing to a box or two I have - but I think you might have missed an interesting side note. Jerome - are you overseas? I would opine the the box comes by way of England - and not someone's favorite they took/sent abroad - but more likely was sold over the pond just before or during the tobacco wars. I believe negrohead was only sold "over there".
