Ok, Ok... I tried to get answers before.
There is a set that has come up a few times on ebay and sold for more than the Original Riddler back set . I think I remember seeing this set in the 90's and really have no clue as to how it would eclipse (in price & rarity) the ORIGINAL 1966 Batman Riddler Back set???

Here is one of the cards in comparison to older

, as you see the newer card is smaller and instead of being #8 it has been printed "58" with the "8" blocked out in print process.

This set is longer and has no telltale markings anywhere as to issuing company. While it contains pics from original 38 card set it also adds several cast that are missing from the original.

Here is the complete newer set:

QUESTIONS:
1.YEAR & ISSUING COMPANY, Country??
2.what makes this set so "rare" (if at all)as that is always mentioned in auction..limited etc.
3. Bootleg?

This is one of my fave 1960's issues besides Brady Bunch. I love putting this one together over and over.
I have looked high and low to find the info. details. NADA, ZIP, ZERO!

I would like to put this matter to bed before the new year. Am I missing something?

Please educate me or confirm.

I have zero interest in surfing hundreds to thousands of "batman" auctions each week looking for answers.

Someone here must have the answers.

Sincerely,
CR

Thanks in advance.

Edited to add ; I know some of the additions are dutch / foreign cards but it still does not answer my questions.

Is this a LEGIT set? Is it really "rare"?

irritated and puzzled ..new shiny stuff drives me bonkers unless its the topps re issues...I get those..don't like em...but get it.

Hi Charley,

Not a lot of solid info on this set. It is a reprint/expansion set issued in 1989. Don't know who issued it or if it is official or bootleg. I' ve seen claims the sets were given out at conventions Iin the US, but no confirmation of that. I've also seen claims they are from Argentina. Mercado Libre Argentina usually has 1 or 2 sets listed every time I've looked so maybe they are from Argentina. I haven't seen a set offered on ebay, but I haven't been actively looking. Total of 60 cards: reprints of original 38 and 22 new cards. Dan has the fronts shown in a gallery page in the Batman Gallery with images from Tony Fryer.

Hopefully someone else will hace more definitive info for you.

Bill O.

Thanks Billy, I contacted a board member who is pretty keen on these "newer" issues and his opinions are vague/fuzzy as well.

I just find it VERY Hard to believe this "newer" set is so unknown and yet "rare"???

Perhaps I need to don my Azkuti uniform and attend Comicon to get answers? (pssft!)

Any others here with opinions? Speculation?

Look, Pretty desperate at this point...
Will take anything!

C'mon men...give me sumptin.

Charley , i spent a few minutes looking . Nothing solid found except similar font and design found on the Mattel 2013 1960's Batman toy figures . They also issued their own distinctive series of 7? colourful trading cards .
I wondered if these were a spin off ...but as i said , nothing solid found .
Hope a concrete answer emerges for you .

Have a super Sixteen .

Riddle me this Batman?

I have nothing to add but thought my comment was pretty witty. Maybe not.
