How do others go about revision? Do you have any tips to share?

As for me, I don't have any one process. It's pretty haphazard. I often don't do any revision for a long time. Then, usually when I'm about to submit a poem to some journal, I realize that I need to strengthen this or that, completely rewrite the end, or whatever. I often work on a poem quite a bit before sending it (but sometimes don't revise at all).
