Gin Gin

The email said you died in your pajamas
walking to the store.
There were no attachments showing your red couch
or the hideous wallpaper in your downstairs bath.
No memories of that time you filled the washer
with stones from your garden path.
I looked for an .mpg of you singing South Pacific
show tunes on Sunday afternoons.
Or stories about packing parachutes
in LA during the war.
I would have listened. Danced. And laughed
in the wrong places, like I always did.
But there was no sound from my screen.
Only the low crackle of light rain on the roof.

Special thanks to Toni and Jude for giving us this safe place to write. The writing here is incredible and the bar is high. Thanks to all of you for reading and commenting on my work. I really appreciate the input and wish I had more time daily to interact on posts. A special shout out to my awesome friend Greta who introduced me to The Waters several years ago. Hope to see you all in April.

I am counting on you being here on April, and to bring many fine fishes to the table, as always

Kendall, I thank you for the hideous wallpaper, and South Pacific and the crackling rain. What a fine piece this is! I loved reading your work this November.
