Hello members!

Melinda and I discussed it and have decided to move the board over to the jcink forums!

We feel that jcink provides a lot more pros than invisionfree does. Here are few:

1) More stable hosting! The servers at jcink do not often have as many outtages.

2) A mobile app! Now you can more easily check your posts, messages etc from jcink's mobile app. No more hard to browse site on your mobile browser.

3) Linked accounts! Now you can link your accounts together offering easy switching between profiles.

4) Better support! When something breaks we will be able to get faster support from jcink.

What this means for you as members? Nothing quite yet.

We are currently working out logistics for the move. The two options are as follows.

1) We create the new board from scratch. Once it is finished the current board will remain open for a month for you to grab anything you need before being placed into archived mode. You would still be able to read, you just won't be able to post. The good side of this option is you can continue posting while we work. The downside is you will have to re-register on the new board and repost anything like plot pages etc.

2) We obtain a copy of the board for jcink to upload to their server. This will mean all of your threads, accounts, and private messages will be transferred. Downside of this option is InvisionFree charges for this file so it does depend on how much they are asking for. We will also have to put the board in offline mode while the conversion and upload is happening as no new content would get copied once the file begins to download. The great part is all of your information carries over and no need to re-register your accounts.

We hope you are all excited for this new venture as we are!

I vote Option #2, and I'd be happy to donate toward the move charge! Having this board offline for a little while is nothing compared to having to create a new board from scratch, and it's easier than everyone having to re-upload everything. Less stress on everyone, in my opinion.

I like Option #2 also so we don't have to re-register. :]

I vote Option #2 as well, just because I have like 6 years of writing on here and I don't like the idea of losing that to the annals of the internet. I'd be down with donating toward the fee, too.

Rhea did it!

mmm..the linking would be tolerable, can already do that basically. no issues with the site as it is, but if it makes things smoother, then i vote for option 2. to have to retrieve and re register and all that would just be stupid and a waste of time personally.

Please be aware that we are just listing the two paths that will happen. The database backup is all dependent on how much we are quoted. Just wanted to let you know that while option #2 is preferable, all of the staff does this for fun and all of the paid features such as the premium cbox we have paid for out of our own pocket. So if the quote is extravagant we will have to go with option #1. :)

Have you thought about upgrading from your invisionfree zIF board to Zetaboards. It's free, they do everything for you, only takes a few minutes, keeps all your data in the same place, etc.

It will do everything you mentioned, the only thing it won't have is the mobile app.

It has an integrated chat box too.

Just switched mine over and it is doing marvelously.

If the second option is popular enough and people are willing to foot some of the bill, would that be a plausible option? To allow willing members to donate if the fee is heftier than expected?

It's entirely possible but I think we're waiting on the actual quote from IF to see if it's plausible! We wouldn't want to pressure anyone to feel like they NEED to donate and if it really is on the extreme end, we don't want to put that burden on you guys since we're all just here to have fun.

I love that people are willing to donate and it'll be much appreciate if going with option two is reasonable. Just a fresh reminder of how lovely our members are <3

We will definitely keep you guys posted as we get new info.

If we have to move threads and things ourselves, could we have some kind of archive forum we can put closed/old threads into? I'm a hoarder when it comes to my threads. 😳

But I also like looking back on things and still don't have my own laptop to save things to yet. :s

If you need help, please ask. I've don e a lot of site coding, admin, etc so I'd be happy to help if needed for whatever. :)

I vote for Option 2 if you can get enough people to donate. I'd be happy to help out a bit. I am also fine with Option 1; sometimes, sites need just a new start.
