Things had somewhat gone back to the way they were for Carson.
He had moved back into the house, finding it to be really empty without Jamie there with him. Sure, there were the numerous animals that brought him some relief from the loneliness, but it wasn’t the same. His house just wasn’t a home anymore, and that was simply because it was lacking in the one person that always made it home.

Carson needed Jamie to come back. Even if it wasn’t going to be right away. He needed to Jamie to know that He was serious about staying with him. He was ready to build his life with the man He loved, and although that would take time, it was something that He had to do.
The two of them needed to talk. Where the two of them standing in their relationship? Were they engaged again? Were they just waiting it out? Did they just want to get married and get it over with? God. Carson didn’t even know. He just wanted to be with this man forever, even if that meant the two of them were never going to get married to one another.

He sat alone, sitting on his couch and petting Scarlett awaiting the arrival of his beloved. Carson hadn’t told Jamie He had bought the house back, but was there any reason why He wouldn’t? There was no way He was leaving this time. California had it’s merits, but Carson knew that it was severely lacking in the one person that would make his life whole, and that outweighed any benefit that it had. Carson wanted to make sure however, that Jamie knew He was serious; The ring was in his pocket, where it had been practically since the day the two of them broke up. He was hoping that after this meeting, He’d no longer have to be the one to carry it.

Jamie honestly wasn't really sure why Carson had asked him to meet him at their old house. It seemed a little odd to him. they had sold the place when they had split because for Jamie, the idea of living there without the love of his life was just...too much.

He was a little bit worried that they were rushing back into things, but at the end of the day, he was certain that what felt right in his heart was the right thing to do. He wanted to be with Carson more than he wanted anything else right now, and that? That meant that it was the right thing for him. He knew that he had to follow his heart, because not following it had gotten him into trouble in the past, and his heart was screaming for the man he loved, so why not let himself have that?

And besides, it had been good. Since Carson had come home, things had been really good. No, they weren't living in the same place, but Carson had spent a lot of nights at Jamie's apartment with him, and that made him feel really, really good about the weight of their relationship. He was just so happy to have the other man back in his life that he didn't know how to stop himself, even if he had wanted.

When he got to the house, though, he didn't know what to do. He saw Carson's car, but the other man wasn't anywhere to be seen. He felt awkward, but he decided to just go for it, and knock on the door. He stood there, wondering who, if anyone, was going to open it up. He jammed his hands into the pockets of his jeans, hoping that he had made the right call, and beating himself up mentally for not just calling Carson to see where he was, or what he was supposed to do. God, was he ever going to stop being an idiot?

Carson didn’t know what to tell Jamie when He asked to meet up at the old house; there was still an element of surprise that He didn’t want to spoil for the other man. Still, when he heard the knock on the door, his heart leapt a little bit, hoping that the other man would be happy about this living arrangement. He pushed the tiny dog off of his lap, much to her dismay, to get up and answer the door.

He smiled as He opened the door “Hey Babe. Come on in” Carson knew that this was going to be an interesting talk, whether good or bad. It was the talk that was going to determine the way their relationship would go. Whether they were going to get married still or just wait for that moment to come by again. He knew what He wanted. He wanted to be Jamie’s husband, but only when the other man was ready.

Things had been going so well since He came back, the two of them were happier than they were before. So why not just go back to planning on spending the rest of their lives together? Carson wasn’t really one to take things slow when He was passionate about it, and Jamie had become the thing He was most passionate about.

Carson softly closed the door as after the other man came in, not sure how to start this conversation at all. “Can I get you anything?” Drinks were nice. People usually less nervous with those right? Why the hell was He even nervous? It’s not like Jamie was going to break up with him for wanting to go back to the way things were right?

Jamie wasn't sure if he should be surprised or not when Carson opened the door to the house that they had once shared and yes, it felt weird to see that happen. It felt like he had gone back in time somehow, to before everything had fallen apart, when they had both still lived there together, and there was something about that that was equal parts nice, and a little bit offputting, because he knew better. He knew that they didn't live there anymore, that he had his own place, and Carson was staying with family - or at least that was what Jamie believed he had been doing.

"Carson..." he tilted his head to the side, gingerly stepping into the place. It wasn't empty, and...he looked around, recognizing some of the stuff. It was Carson's stuff, he was pretty sure. That sort of clued him in, just a little bit, about what was going on. Sure, he had no idea that Carson had a ring burning a hole in his pocket ,but the house? It certainly looked as though his boyfriend had gone through the trouble to get it back for them and...that was pretty fucking romantic as far as Jamie was concerned. "What...you didn't buy the house back, did you?"

Though...yeah, it sure seemed like that was probably exactly what Carson had done.

Did he want something to drink? He honestly wasn't really sure how to answer that, so he just nodded. "Yeah, sure, but Carson, babe," he bit his lip. "What's going on?" Something definitely felt weird, but he was pretty sure that was because of the slightly surreal nature of standing, once again, in the home that they had shared during the happiest days of Jamie's life. Maybe...that was about to come back. Maybe...Carson was going to suggest that they talk about moving in together again.

This house meant too much for Carson to just let slide by when He came back. He had noticed that the family who had bought it had left, much to his joy. It was the place where that held so many memories for the two of them, and hopefully, it was going to hold many many more. For some people, this was just a house, but with Jamie by his side, this was going to become a home again.

Carson had bought the house back the moment that He knew He was coming back to Evergreen. Sure, He knew that it was a long-shot, but maybe, just maybe, Jamie would come back to live in it soon. By the look on the other man’s face, He could tell that Jamie was pretty surprised at the gesture. He smiled as He was asked if He had bought the house back “Of course I did” He smirked “I couldn’t just let it pass by, could I?” He knew the logical answer to that question was yes, but his heart had told him no. This was the place that the two of them were meant to live the rest of their lives in.

Now, Jamie was onto the fact that there was something wrong. He looked at his boyfriend and simply said “Do you remember when we first moved in here?” He asked sweetly “And the morning that I asked you to marry me?” Simple questions, but still ones with answers that could change everything. Carson wanted things back to the way they were, and maybe, just maybe, they would. "I was wondering if you wanted us to go back to the way things were back then...."

Jamie really didn't know what was going on, but he was definitely feeling a little overwhelmed with emotions.

Yes, the emotions had been high for him since Carson had returned, and he was pretty sure that that was going to be true for a long time. He hadn't expected Carson to return the way that he had. No, Jamie hadn't really gotten used to the idea of being alone, but at the end of the day, that didn't mean that he had been waiting with baited breath for Carson to return. He knew that the man had big dreams, and he didn't want to get in the way of them.

Yes, maybe one day, Jamie would be in a place where he would be able to go to LA with Carson - he certainly hoped so, because he didn't want to crush his dreams forever. Yes, Carson could act out of Indiana, but eventually, it would grow difficult, and hopefully, by that time Jamie would be in a place where he could go with him, and they wouldn't have to worry about all of this falling apart again.

Still, right now, they were in their old house, and it was...a lot. "Was it even for sale?" he asked, tilting his head to the side. God, if it hadn't been, how much had Carson had to pay to get it back? Was Jamie upset though? Absolutely not. He loved this house, and it had been too painful to live in it without Carson, but...Carson was right there.

"Of course I remember," he said softly. "All of that, I...don't think I've forgotten a moment of us being together, I don't think that I ever will," he said. He remembered the way it had felt, to move in with someone, to know what he meant to Carson when the other man had proposed, but now? Now he was just...confused.

"I...how do you mean?" he asked. "Are you asking me to move back in here with you?"

Carson had been thinking about this since He left Evergreen. LA certainly did have its perks in terms of his career, but that meant nothing to him without Jamie. Jamie had been his whole world for what seemed like a long time, and to just leave him behind was something that He just couldn’t do. LA was never meant to be the end game once He met Jamie, now It was just about getting to spend his life with the man that He loved more than anything else.

The house had been for a sale for about two weeks before Carson came back, and that was the perfect part of his plan (Because He wasn’t sure what He was going to do if it wasn’t). The home hadn’t changed much at all, except for some of the colors that the new tenants had painted on some of the walls, which actually helped to impress the look of the home. It was a bit different than when Carson and Jamie had lived here the first time, and that was okay. It was something that Carson felt made a true sign of the change.

“Yes It was for sale.” Carson smiled “Just barely, I might’ve have to steal it from someone else though” The bidding war between himself and whoever that guy was that wanted the house was not very fun, but worth it. “I knew it was something that I had to get back though.”

Carson’s smile got wider as Jamie said that He hadn’t forgotten a moment of the two of the being together, and it made his heart beat go faster. “Good. I was hoping you would say that.” He reached into his pocket, pulling out his own engagement ring “I am asking you to move back here with me, but I was also curious about this.” He said happily “Do you think I should wear it again?”

Jamie was still in shock that he had this place back. He was so overwhelmed being in it again, with CArson again. It was so much that he had never thought would happen, and he was trying to process all of it, while trying to figure out what was going on.

He knew that Carson had meant business - the man hadn't been coy about that. He had been clear about what he wanted, and what he wanted to share with Jamie, and he had been clear that he wasn't going to leave again, and...Jamie didn't want him to. Jamie wanted this life with him, he wanted everything to be alright, and he was just hoping that this time, it would work better.

Twice they had broken up, and maybe...well, maybe the third time was the charm? He certainly hoped so, because honestly, Jamie wasn't sure that he could survive losing Carson again if it came to that.

He smiled slightly as Carson talked about the bidding war, and he hoped that the other hadn't had to pay too much over the value of the house to get it back...but it was sentimental. This place meant a lot to them, and a lot to their relationship, and he wanted to live in it again with Carson, he wanted things to go back to the way they were as much as they could...except with him getting stronger - strong enough to one day support Carson in a move to LA. Together.

He felt his heart stop for a moment when he saw the engagement ring. He knew where his own was, in a box in his bedroom, with other things that he couldn't bear to get rid of when things had ended, and his eyes widened. "I...are..." he gulped. "Are you...asking if we should...get married?" He looked at Carson, wanting to make sure that that was, in fact, what Carson was saying before he got his hopes up. "That...you still want to?"

Getting the house back was always in Carson’s plan since He had decided to go back to Evergreen, not being happy in LA without Jamie. LA had been where his career had started, but it was true that it hadn’t really picked up until He got the role on Balls of fire, which, He was happy to be back doing. Sure, it wasn’t the movie type thing that He thought He had always wanted to do, but it was what He truly enjoyed doing. He got to do what He loved and be with the person that He loved. What more could one ask for? He was living his dream.

Well, almost.

If Jamie still wanted to get married, despite the fact that the two of them had parted ways only a couple of months before and Carson had just recently came back, He would be the happiest man in the world. He knew that Jamie was the one person that He wanted to be with for the rest of his life, despite all the things that they had been through. Two breakups, nearly losing Jamie forever and moving across the country, fate had been a bit unkind. Still, here they were now, perhaps the third time proving to be the charm.

This home was certainly more than just a house. It was the place that the two of them had first moved in together, the place that He proposed to Jamie, and the hopefully the place that they would continue to live together for a very long time. He wanted things to just continue to get better, to have the two of them keep helping each other to grow.

Carson knew the moment that He came back to Evergreen that He wanted to marry Jamie still, if Jamie would have him. It was the main reason that He had held onto his engagement ring and hoped that Jamie still had his. ”Of Course I am” Carson smiled ”There hasn’t been a moment when we were together that I didn’t want to marry you. It was true. There was no one that Carson would rather bug for the rest of his life than Jamie. They had been through much together, and He wasn’t about to let it go away.

Jamie hadn't been expecting this.

Yes, it was truly wonderful that this man was around, that he wanted to do things, that he wanted to talk to him, to get back together, and rekindle their lives, but he hadn't been expecting the house, the proposal of sorts, all at once, and certainly not so quickly.

That being said, he was far from sure that it was a bad thing. He loved Carson with all of his heart, and he didn't think that he would be able to find anyone else that he loved even remotely as much. He wanted to be with him, and he wanted to make sure that, no matter what he did, the other man was happy with his choice to return. Jamie didn't want Carson to regret coming back in any way. Yes, he knew the other man was giving up a lot to be with him, and he wanted to make it worth his while.

Was it all too fast? Maybe, but Jamie didn't really care. He'd heard people say before that when you know, you know, and Jamie? He knew that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Carson, he had for a long time. Yes, it had taken him ages to accept that fact about himself, but he had gotten there, and was more than happy to continue the pursuit of happiness in the form of the other man.

"And..." he bit his lip, hesitating just a little. "What about when we weren't together?" Had there been someone else? Had his heart ached the way that Jamie's had for the entirety of their separation? Jamie hadn't been with anyone else, and he almost didn't want to know if Carson had...but he did want to know if, even during that time when they were apart, if Carson had still loved him. Maybe it was selfish, but he still wanted to know before committing to Carson again.

Carson knew that this was moving quickly, even if the two had been together for a while before. Engagement was certainly a big deal, even if this wasn’t the first time that the two of them decided to get married, Carson wanted it to be the last time. He knew that He wasn’t going to change his mind that He wasn’t going to leave again and most of all that He wanted Jamie to hold in his arms for the rest of his life.

There was nothing that Carson wanted more than to be able to call Jamie his husband, and to truly show that after all the people that had left or neglected Jamie, He was making a vow to never be that person. Carson loved Jamie with everything that He had, and it was the very reason that He was back in their house with the ring in his hands. Jamie had made Carson into a better person, just by being Jamie, and He knew that there was no one else on this earth that could make Carson feel the way Jamie made him feel.

Was it a big deal? Absolutely. Was it a bit fast? Yes. Did Carson mean every word of what He said? You better believe He did. Even when they were apart, Carson was trying to get back to Jamie. He was determined to make this work, because He didn’t know what to do if it did not.

His head tilted to the side a bit with Jamie’s question of when they weren’t together. ”I still wore the ring.” Carson admitted “There wasn’t anyone out in LA that could compare to you.” Carson walked over to the other man, looking into his eyes “Why would I try to get someone in LA when the man I loved was in Evergreen?” He asked sincerely.
