Foreshadowing a new character that's a shrew?
Man, I hope not. I like everybody in the cast. Cassiopeia strikes me as the most tightly wound of the group, but I've never seen her being unreasonably so. (And rock-solid Howie seems like an excellent match for her.) Sandy has her hot buttons too, but they usually involve Doc's casual attitude about safety issues. Justified.

Or, uh, did you mean an actual shrew? (That possibility just occurred to me.) That could be interesting.
If it ain't broke, I'll fix it!

-No, sorry. 😁

The thing is, I kind of already have too many characters. We haven't seen Rainy, Bandit, Bruno or Snowshoe since the night at Howie's (at the end of 2016) we haven't seen Gino in like six years, and Kasi has only been seen once- asleep- since... I think the beer-replicator incident (mid-'13) and even there she was only seen getting fired out of the chimney.

And, readers are currently asking to see more of Miki, Robin and Simon, asking when we'll see a Bandit/Ambush rematch, can't wait to see more Larry & Daryl antics, and are already "shipping" Miki and any one (or more) of the Dalmatians.

For the time being, we don't need any more new characters- I don't have enough panel time for the ones I already have. 😁

And yes, even though it'll apparently annoy fans of Jinx' sister, that does also mean that she's not destined to become a regular.

Maybe an actual shrew, although hopefully not shrewish; someone to chase Bandit around.  :)

Says the artist that's gone on record as saying that introducing Cara and the coffee shop means he can make characters like Mr. Quisenberry possibly appear more in the comic. ;)

And it's obvious that you just need to find artists to do spin-off comics (in-cannon, and for a small licensing fee, of course) for the characters that don't get seen as often. :P

-Well, yes, that was the idea. To possibly get more use out of existing characters.

The strip, up until recently, really only had two main settings/locations: the paintball store, and the paintball field. While we did occasionally see other places (the fire station, somebody's apartment, Jake's office, etc.) it was basically those two.

Adding the coffee shop gives us a more neutral third location- Mr. Quisenberry would have little or no reason to show up at either the paintball shop or the paintball field, but it'd be quite plausible to see him over at a good coffee shop. Ditto AJ- if he's not actually fixing something at the shop, we never see him. We might regularly see him at a coffee shop, however. And so on.

Yes, that did require more characters- Cara and Miki- and, somewhat contrary to what I mentioned above, we will see some random new characters in the form of temporary employees wander through the coffee shop, but that's really no different from the random characters seen at the front counter at the store.

yeah, it can be pretty amazing, the difference in time flow between here and in-universe!
