...to cough up hairballs? Just not pink ones?
I guess that might answer the question of whether Cara's fur is truly pink.

well since polar bear fur is actually hollow. she could have had a mishap with dye or a rose scented bath bomb that left her with that shade. after a bit I bet she went ahead and kept it. ( there has been some bears in zoos that picked up algae in their fur that left them mossy green)

No, I'm pretty sure I've never used a hairball joke before- apart from the name of their in-world brand of paintballs. (Ursa brand Fuzzball, Furball and Hairball. )

The original punchline was simply "Huh. I've never coughed up a hairball before".

But I wanted to add the "pink" part in there, so it was clear where said hair came from.

Very old joke in furry used to be "Embarasment is when you cough up a hairball, and someone notes it's not your fur colour..."

Well, technically, it should only be embarrassing if the guy were married and the coughed-up hairball wasn't his wife's color.
