I remember your stories from way back when talking about how entertaining the guy with the bowling ball mortar was at the gun range, so when I came across this video today you were the first person I thought of I thought you may enjoy this it's remarkably well shock to better than I would have expected

Okay, that completely rocks. 😁

I'm surprised how well the GoPro stands up to the acceleration- no blanking out for a second, or static, etc.

Now what the guy needs to do is come up with a way to keep the ball from spinning. Not sure how you'd do that... add "bomb fins"? A kite tail? Tiny drogue cute?

Doc.

i am also very impressed by how well the go-pro handled it as well, none of those weird lines from vibration/buffeting either

hmm, popout fins perhaps? he's clearly capable of cutting a pocket out of the ball without destroying it, maybe a couple slots with spring loaded stabilizers?

Put an expanding anchor in one of the eyes and tie a rope on it.

If you think this is fun. You'll love the PGI. (pgi.org)

Try a search on PGI rocket line.

Is that the young lady's dad?  If so, she is seriously lucky to have a dad who works with her on such totally cool projects. I can only imagine what the Fourth of July is like around their place

Similar idea, but in a pneumatic cannon instead.

10 seconds flight time = 5 seconds up, 5 seconds down = around 400 feet.... Hope they're not too close to an airport flight path!
