Even though Doc was driving a different car in that comic, if it wasn't for the Bandit running from Smokey, we wouldn't have bridge jumps.

RIP Burt Reynolds.

This is a test. Explosions are a happy side effect.

I confess I wasn't a fan, but I can't deny the man was an icon. Sic transit gloria mundi.

That's the wildest bridge jump ever. From "The Man with the Golden Gun".

Here's my favorite Burt Reynolds moment, the grande finale of Smokey and the Bandit 2.

That stunt was from the 1974 James Bond film, The Man with the Golden Gun and was driven by Jay Milligan. It was the first such stunt conceived using computer simulation.
The Smokey & the Bandit scene was 1977 .and the director, Hal Needham, made the jump

I was fond of young Burt but I found old Burt creepy.

His guest shot on Archer was glorious, though.

I seem to recall that he also played the mayor of the city you take over in Saint's Row the Third; considering the entire game was pretty over the top, it made perfect sense.

Definitely a larger than life character.

I wish I could say I was surprised; but I saw what he looked like on the Barrett-Jackson auto auction broadcasts -- slurred speech; needed *a lot* of help getting into and out of vehicles... not good, Bruno.

That said: I suspect this is what his entry to Heaven looked like:

Is it already over 30 years since we lost Jackie Gleason? And I see Jerry Reed's been gone 10 years now too. Where does the time go?
