When talking about newspaper comics, most of the gags fall into a few limited categories. It's either a gag about one of the players bringing house paint instead of paintball, a gag about using a paintbrush as a bayonet, using a marker to paint a car/house/shed/porch, or, most common, off-panel violence where the protagonist leaves the frame, you 'hear' a lot of splats and booms and noises, then he walks back in, covered with paint.

Doc.
