I had a big paragraph typed out, but something buried and it's gone.

I'm no graphic designer. These examples are basically me scooting different flip art around.

These are for my drone imagery business. I don't want to be cheesy, but need to convey what the business does without being too gaudy, and try to look" high end".

Let me know if you have a favorite. Or if you think I should start over, let me know.

And if anyone wants to help out, I'd love that!

I guess they won't imbed unless there's a file extension at the end of them.

A lot of them look very similar to the Mercedes logo. Might want to change the number of propeller blades or re-index the propeller.

I like the one with the red background and half a gear.

The gear teeth make me think of mechanics or mechanical engineering, so if I saw only the image I'd think you were offering repair, or possibly design, services. And with the prop in the center I think "aircraft mechanic."

I like the color scheme. It's bold and drives the point. I also like the ones with a camera iris in the middle. To me that says "photography." (Or Aperture Labs of Half-Life fame.) I prefer the ones where the iris is the hub of the prop. That makes it smaller and less prominent but I feel like overlaying the prop on a larger iris makes it busy, and harder to recognize.

But I'm not a graphic designer, so treat everything I said as if it came from a drunk stranger at a bus stop.
If it ain't broke, I'll fix it!

I'm with some of the other opinions. I'm not sure what the gear represents. I think the prop with the iris at the center looks good. You could also try 4 props around an iris in the shape of common drones that people are used to or maybe a simple camera pictograph like you'd see on a sign with 4 props around it.

The gear is for the Works, part of the name. I will be doing repairs and that sort of thing.

But you're right, it does look very mercedes! That's probably why I kept liking it setup that way!

I'm not sure why,and it's just a "thing" i've got. Many of the "fly by night" guys always seem to have some sort of a drone shaped thing in their logo.

From everything I've studied, I know that it should somehow tie back to the drone so people can quickly see what the company does. But... for some reason I just hate it! I can't explain why really.

Thanks for the input!

Not... a big fan of any of those, if I'm honest.

Mainly, none of them even hint "drone" to me, apart from the text, of course.

The "propeller" shape doesn't really look like a propeller, the aperture shape doesn't fit with the prop, and the gear kind of muddles it further.

The gear with the six holes makes me think "bicycle chainring" more than anything.

Also, with the color, don't make 'em equal. In other words, have a black logo with a touch of red, or a red logo with a touch of black, rather than one with more-or-less equal proportions of both.

Sorry I don't have many suggestions for alternates, it's early and most of my prefrontal cortex hasn't fully booted up yet.

You might try the one little 2-blade propeller icon, put one at an angle at each corner over the word "drone works", which would suggest the look of a typical quadrotor.

Or enclose the word with a thick black line, with bulges at each corner- it'd look kind of like a cartoon dog bone, but you might be able to play with the spacing a bit.

Find an isometric drawing of a fan- a prop with a hub and the outer ring. Tilt that in two dimensions and place it at the beginning of the title word.

Might be able to come up with something later...

Doc.

I'm with you on not having a drone in the logo. Everybody and his nephew has a drone these days so it's not exactly notable. Plus if you ever branch out into using balloons, kites, rockets, or antigravity sleds it'll kind of date you.

I like Caterpillar's logo. It doesn't have caterpillar tracks, wheels, buckets, blades, or anything that reflects their equipment other than the name. (Granted, it's a name that already has worldwide recognition.) It has a mound of dirt. Nobody cares how a Cat product works, they just care that it'll move that mound of dirt.

How about four red circles touching, arranged like a drone's, three of them with propellors in them and one with the camera iris in it?

Much like my lovely paint illustration I made for you but a touch more professional looking...
