But do you think Red could use something like this to get the attention of certain individuals on his field?

Nah. Takes too long to warm up and get up to tone. 😁

Keeping in mind that at full scream, those things can put out some 138dB- about the same as a jet engine at takeoff. The dude demoing it only very briefly blipped the throttle to close to full power, judging by the exhaust flappers, but I'd bet the impeller still never got above 70% speed. Even what little he did was risking hearing damage for everybody within 100 meters.😁

Red would prefer the instant surprise- to say nothing of the portability- of a boat horn.

Doc.

You want one, there's one still sitting on top of a 40' lattice tower in a park in West Hollywood CA across from the Sheriff's substation.  Wish they'd fix it up so it could be used, but that'll never happen.  Besides, they'd have to train a few Deputies to go across the street, climb the tower and start and run the thing manually.

There are a few hundred of the smaller electric sirens on 25' poles with 10-HP (?) motors scattered around Greater Los Angeles, most are still intact.  Many were (and are) in front of firehouses or public buildings just for ease of monitoring them.  But the crude phone private-line based control circuits were turned off in the late 1980's, and the power feeds were cut to stop any pranksters from hot-wiring them. And they did a few times.
