FYI, the comics from the days that the website was down are still missing.

Specifically, 2703 has a broken image on an otherwise functional page, and 2704 to 2709 don't exist at all (404 error)

You probably didn't know this, but all of the pages from 2018-09-26 to 2018-10-04 are broken. Just thought it might be helpful to point that out.

I think I'm going to quit posting so often. Seems like I'm always at the start of every dogpile.

Ah, I needed to get a life anyway.
If it ain't broke, I'll fix it!

Well, it's fixed now, so at a guess he was at least tangentially aware of it. ;)

9-26 is still missing the next button, though.

So what exactly happened? It looked like your web hosting company, or at least the whole server the site was running on, shit the bed.

That's about it - Host is a division of AWS, Amazon Web Services.  They found a server software compromise, and then a Hardware Hack on the Supermicro China built servers and had to physically replace the server blade motherboards and recover from backups.  Go look up the Supermicro Hack, I've posted links to it in the main section.  Including that everyone denies everything, the usual corporate doublespeak. And SMCI stock took a huge dive.

What? My host is a local- that is, here in Alaska- Telecom. They have nothing to do with Amazon, they run their own small server farm here in-state.

It's possible the issue was related to the Supermicro thing, the guys I talked to wouldn't specify exactly what the cause was, but they are not part of the Amazon network.

Doc.

Oh...  Downforeveryone was saying it was AWS.  The timing is very suspicious, and 1+1=(not 2 apparently.)
