Hello to all,

I just watched a movie about the Japanese invading Java in march 1942.

Here's another 'tactical sign' (See the picture!) .....

on some sort of an overvalwagen !

The "V" means "VICTORIE" (Dutch for 'Victory')

We know only a few 'tactical numbers' but what does the sign mean ?

Hello Eric,

you can watch the film at 'Beeld en geluid' (Specials 7, "De Oorlog", 'Oorlog in Indie'),
"Diverse gebeurtenissen in Indonesie 1942-1946"

It may be Eastern Java (a map in the beginning shows the landings at Rembang). I cant id the overvalwagen (or two?).
Fact is we had BB13, AB59 (on a truck shwon on a Japanese film) and now WB1?
Also seen a KNIL Krupp 75mm gun, blown up, and several destroyed KNIL Chevies along a road...

Eric, don't forget the White Scoutcar with BE/1 !
Also: BE/1, WB1/5, BB/13 and AB/59.
Is there anyone who could explain this kind of numbering ?
Thanks in advance,

Some markings are shown in the book The Dutch Luger and WB1-5 could be Garrison Battalion Wester Borneo, 1st company, 5tt piece. AB could be Artillerie berg, Mountain artillery, 5th battery
