There are some Uillean Pipes that sound quite lovely. It is all in the hands of the player, really.

Clarinets. I can't stand these stupid things when they go over the break (B on the Treble staff)
I also have come to find most inline ocarinas I don't like, they sound too......buzzy and toy-ish/whistle-like to me, and I don't enjoy it :/

Funny! I've played the clarinet for most of my live, but I always thought that it sounded much better in the upper register than on the low notes. The low notes sound a bit empty because of their lack of overtones.

Any instrument sounds bad in the hands of a bad player. That's probably why so many of you are saying you don't like clarinets/oboes/trumpets/trombones. In the hands of a skilled player they are all beautiful. That's why they've been around for centuries. If we were going to judge instruments by the quality of the players in a school band, then I'd just have to say I hate music altogether. ;)

The only instrument I truly cannot stand is the bagpipe. I know there are some good players out there, but a bad bagpipe player trumps a bad player of any other instrument. The sound is just deafening.

I don't even think I like the sound of a bagpipe being played skillfully. In june, I had the displeasure of hearing bagpipes badly played during a formal event..... The player was trying his hardest, but it ended up so flat and drunk sounding. It sounded like he didn't have good enough breath support for the instrument.... it almost ruined the occasion for me.

I was at a sporting event on St. Patricks day in which a bagpipe player played the Star Spangled Banner. A few stupid fans booed the poor guy. (probably screaming stuff like "This is 'Murica!") I thought it sounded great. Funny, they had no problem with the green beer..

I love all instruments if they are played nicely.... Even bagpipes :) Banjo is one of my favourites, even though I don't play it :P I really want to, though! I enjoy clarinets and the brass instruments, harmonica, and I LOVE stringed instruments like violin, cello, zithers, jouhikko, etc. Accordions are amazing :D I only play guitar, bass, piano, drums, violin, and I just got my ocarina today (Woopie!), so I don't even play any of my favourITE instruments lol
