Boy, talk about thread drift - and longevity! lol.  Lots of great discussion and info, though.

I'm in Reggie Day's camp pack on page 2 or 3 almost a year ago...200-series (County) cars.  I can see the need and volume for grills and diners, but a couple point should be made, despite the sales levels for the brass sides raised earlier - and it's hard to challenge good data!

Consider:
If you're running a consist with an FL-9 pr EP-5 you need these cars- even if one per train - how many FL-9's did you buy and how many EP-5s?  Right...

If you're not running and FL-9 or EP-5 you need these cars. Why? because you can get the version with the really cool telephone antenna on the roof!

You really do need "more than one": of these cars no matter what era or motive power you model.  Remember, a bunch of these cars were reconfigured and the baggage section eliminated...Oh! nope. no one has mentioned that one yet...so, a County is not a County is not a County....

Reggie already mentioned there were survivors into other railroads.

Lastly on the sales volume of brass sides; that was a while ago - there were no FL-9s or EP-5s other than brass, so possibly a smaller market than today. Also a more edumacated. larger market today,

Meat wagons may come first, but I think the County cars should not be counted out.

I'm in Peter's corner with regards to suggesting the next Rapido LW SS car.

According to the book The Official Pullman Standard Library Vol. - 10 Northeast Railroads, the New Haven had an overall total of 20 baggage-lounge and baggage-parlor lounge combines in several configurations.  The New Haven had 10 diners and 15 grill cars.  In terms of quantity the combines and the food service cars were about equal.  In terms of utility and assignment to various trains I do not know.  IMHO the combines offer a different yet very cohesive makeup for the overall LW SS fleet.

I would vote for the 200-series combines.  I have no favorites about which of the several configurations should be selected.

Coaches we've now got, same with parlors.  Gotta have food service.
