Re: A

CT-rail, actually, and the name was in the works long before the (current) fiscal crisis.  Better, but still mediocre. Fred Nangle 4723 Sometime between 2002-4, I attended a presentation by Peter Lynch at the Hamden public library.  Jim (?) Finch, a NH official, was there too. What surprised me was...

Re: The Passing of Al Lawrence

Condolences to Alvin Lawrence's family. I was getting info on the 5229-32 NH diners and Al sent me his drawings. He was thinking of making a model as well. His kindness in his handwritten notes /suggestions will always be remembered. That was in 1980!

Rick, as of 10/7, there are 2 on eBay. Search Atlas EP-2 and it should pull up 2 examples.

Re: Makes me think DER-1a

Well that is a rare shot of a rare DER-1b in that 0740 was the first and only modified one which retained the glass windows and all those battens down the sides. When the original metal covered plywood deteriorated, the NH replaced the side panels and windows, etc.  Was 0740 the first one modified?...

Re: The Enduring Value of the Association and Shoreliner

I agree too. I heard many years ago that our Association is the Grandfather to all the other Historical groups. Is this true?  Bill Way back in the '60's (1961?), MR made a brief mention that, "Paul Boivin wants to get a group to just share information about the NYNH&H, both prototype and model." (...

Re: NH Streamliner roof color

I am starting to paint some Concord Junction NH Point sleeper sides. What is the proper/best available (shade/producer) choice for the window panel ? Is there a brushable version of any of these? Reggie Day  L-2021 Reggie, why not get a cheap ($6 Harbor Freight) airbrush?  The results will be far s...

Re: Rule question

Rule S-92. A NH brakeman said, "don't ride on the footboards on the front of the locomotive" (front being the direction the loco was traveling) It's an "S", not a "5". Safety Rule. Don't have a Safety Rule Book any more (thanks to a flood), but that's what it is, or was. Don't ride on the footboards...

Roger Williams

<t>  How long did the Roger Williams and the FM John Quincy Adams run into GCT?  Were they banned also as the BLH EDER-6's caught fire enroute to GCT?<br/>   Did the intermediate units have hostler controls so they could be independently moved?  Or, would they be moved by another RDC or RW end unit?...

A recent Shoreliner mentioned how there was an 'unofficial" agreement to have the C425's trail.  But there were exceptions.  Also, despite the 10 U25B's and 10 C425's in the intial order, it seems management voted for the GE's with buying the 2nd order of U25's.

Rick, did the report recommend the GG-1's which were being built? Or was it saying a state of the art locomotive, 11000v and 600vDC, which would allow for more EP-4's. Or could the spec have been very general, as the EP-5 (4000hp, ignitron equipped).
