Re: Waterbury Yard Track Map

Mr. Jack. I checked my NHRTI Standing Data Sheet s and did not find one for Waterbury. I looked at the porperty valuation maps and didn't see a yard, but I'm not sure of the exact location of the yard in Waterbury. Here is the link for all the Waterbury property valuation maps: http://archives.lib.u...

Is This a Full Size Faux New Haven Box Car?

While searching for pictures of the C&O Pullman Standard PS-1 double door box car series #21000 - 21499 to help answer a question on another thread on the Forum, I came across the picture below. I believe the box car belongs to a museum somewhere. But, I have been trying to locate the box car again ...

Re: Robin's Rails 50' ps-1 freight car underframe

Mr. RanchoBob. The first link has a manual date of 2004. The slack adjuster shown on the diagram on page 5 appears different and in a different location from the one patented by Mr. William O. Martin, Railroad Brake Slack Adjuster, Patent#US2630194 A, filed May 13, 1949 and granted March 3, 1953. Th...

Re: The Passing of Al Lawrence

Thank you Mr. Dulmaine for letting us know of Mr. Lawrence's passing. I have always admired his work on the various drawings and diagrams in the various NHRTI and NHRHTI  Standing Data Sheet s from the 1970's, and being a late joiner to the NHRHTA (1992) wasn't aware he was still with us. I'm sure I...

Re: Y-3 in Passenger Service?

Mr. Abramson. I'm not familiar with the trip of the I-5 #1407 to Maybrook in 1947 (I find 1407 and 1947 kind-of an interesting combination). Seeing the marker lights on the passenger car connected to the tender of the Y-3 switcher, is it possible that the Y-3 was turning the train around for the ret...

Re: Robin's Rails 50' ps-1 freight car underframe

Mr. Phavriluk. I tried to find an underframe diagram for the Pullman Standard 50' box cars that were ordered by the New Haven Railroad and delivered to both the New Haven Railroad and the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad (series #21000 - 21499), but met with negative results. So, I took a picture of one o...

Re: NH wreck 1930's or 1940's?

Mr. Flatcar99. Mr. J.W. Swanberg identified that collision on page 556 in his New Haven Power 1938 - 1968 (1988). He said, "At 8:24 AM on Nov. 29, 1933, Old Colony cummuter train 646 with I-2 Pacific 1345 rearended another commuter train at Atlantic, Mass., due to the engineer disregarding a stop si...

Re: New Atlas NE 6

Thanks Mr. Evans for the heads up on advance reservation. Just a reminder to check with your brick-n-mortar hobby shop for discounts too. Mine (Fast Freight Hobbies) will give me a 20% as opposed to this 25% discount on this caboose, however I won't be paying shipping so my savings can be higher. I'...

Re: BHI Publications New Haven Railroad information and data

I wasn't aware that the NHRHTA had the copyright to New Haven Railroad published material. I purchased four books directly from BHI Publications just recently. Each one has written on the bottom of the cover "Digitally restored & edited by BHI Publications." New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad P...
