I'm in for at least "The Winner" and "The Loser".😀

To me the "winning" scheme would be in accordance with a drawing Bill Dulmaine has stated for some years that he had seen many years ago.
This was for the EP-5 in Dumaine green with dulux gold (yellow) cat whiskers. Some years ago when the NHRHTA Reunion was in Worcester IIRC
I displayed an Alco Models EP-5 so painted. Still have it and still think it looks better than any "Matter Mess". It was displayed with a label stating
"Patrick B. McWhoo? a/k/a Buck Dumaine's revenge!". During my high school years in Weston, Mass. Buck was a near neighbor and one could
not ask for a better one. I really miss folks like Buck.

I have never heard or read of anyone having a negative thing to say about Buck Dumaine, Don. Not only was he an astute railroad leader, he appears to have been a fine gentleman as well, right to the end.

From my personal experience with him I concur and confirm that Mr. Dumaine was indeed a gentleman.  May he RIP.

Rapido had an EP5 gray plastic unfinished sample at the Amherst Railway Society show in Springfield it looks pretty good. With an order cutoff in September and early 2019 delivery it is time to get our orders in.

Just placed my order. It will be a most welcome addition to my collection that is on display.

The Rapido Jet will be gorgeous! A great tribute to a great "sparker."

Have to ask

If pbm was against eletric power. Why did he not ask Ge to sell them to another possible buyer. instead of purchasing them?

The NH had already signed on the bottom line. They were ordered by Buck Dumaine and all financial arrangements had been made. McGinnis turned them into a PR coup with the new Matter designed scheme.

Don't forget, these were custom products, usable by only one railroad.  The PRR didn't need the 3rd rail capability, and the NYC didn't need the catenary capability.  Plus, both essentially had enough already.  Like it or not, the New Haven was getting them.

The Jets were designed for a 150 mile round trip; not a 225 mile one way from N.Y. to DC.

Can someone explain , please, the difference in the delivery and repaint.   I stared at Rapido's site for a half an hour and this ol' Southern boy is not getting it.    I want to pre-order the correct one.    thanks!
