In another topic Richard Sullivan asked about planning operations on a model of Oak Point.   The following schedules from the September 28, 1947 Freight Train Schedules may provide some help.  The problem with modelling operations is that most freights ran in the dark.  NOTE - Not included are the BAY RIDGE only trains for PRR interchange at Greenville, NJ
IMG_0006-001.jpg NOTE -- Westward THE SPEED WITCH -- Advanced NE-1, 1st NE-1 and 2nd NE-2 were scheduled for Bay Ridge - Greenville (PRR) only.  The westward Speed Witch offered overnight service from southern New England to Philadelphia via The Hell Gate Bridge Route.

Thanks Mr. NH746EJO. I was putting in the yard spotlights overlooking the turnouts for the Float Yard and the yard to the west of the Float Yard. This is where I figured they were from the diagrams in the NHRHTA Mechanical Department Facilities Maps: Revised Edition (1989). Looks like the operating sessions will definately have to include both 'tricks' of the night. Since I'm modeling 1949 to 1959, I'll have to figure out which of the former Harlem River Yard terminating trains changed to Oak Point Yard and which to Bay Ridge Yard. This really helps me with a starting point for my research.

NOTES  -- Twelve Hell Gate Route symbol freights not listed above were assigned to single EF-3/EF-3a units.  The EF-1 and EP-2 locomotives used at Oak Point ran as three units generally.  An EF-3 had an Oak Point-Cedar Hill tonnage rating of 5,000 while three EP-2 units had a rating of only 4,950 (1,650 each). The EP-2 units were built for passenger service but several were used on freights in 1955.  As of October 30, 1955 the New Haven had 74 electric locomotives for yard, freight or passenger service.  Of the six yard units (EY-2b blt 1927) still on the roster, one was on NX-1, a local out of New Rochelle, two were at Stamford yard and three were at Van Nest for relief, shopping margin or inspection.

Thanks Mr. NH746EJO for the locomotive asignments by number. I was unaware that any EP-2 were used for freight service, and surprised they were rated about equal with the EF-1's. Now I understand why I saw EP-2's at the Oak Point Motor Storage in some pictures.
