Can anyone point me in the direction of technical drawings for an I-5 hudson? Specifically, I want to model the boiler, cab and pilot. Essentially, I'm looking for the overall dimensions, widths, heights, etc.
I am using an old MTH 1/32 scale J3A chassis as the basis and frame. I think the I5's were significantly smaller than the J3's, height and weight wise, which is perfect since I would scale the shell for 1/29 so it matches the rest of my g scale trains. I'm not going to make myself crazy with all the details, but really, just want to get the proportions right.
Mr. Oles. The late Mr. Alvin A. Lawrence loaned the NHRHTA three drawings which were published as data sheets NHRHTA-3.1400.1, 3.1400.2, and 3.1400.3 as copyrighted items in 1977. NHRHTA-3.1400.1 is a 1/4" scale drawing of the right side of the locomotive, tender and the rear view of the tender. It has all of the overall dimensions you are looking for. NHRHTA-3.1400.2 is a retraced official railroad diagram by Mr. Ronald E. Whaley made in June, 1971. It also has the overall dimesions, the clearance diagram for the locomotive, plus the technical information on the locomotive. NHRHTA-3.1400.3 doesn't say it is a 1/4" scale diagram, but it appears to measure out as such. It shows the front view of the locomotive, half view at the cylinders and half view at the drivers, and the cabs dimensions and clearances. These are currently not available from the NHRHTA. If an official from the NHRHTA gives me permission to copy and share these data sheets with you, I'll contact you directly.
