Took this Sunday.  Looks like they are getting there.  From what I remember as a kid, they have changed a lot.  IE. platform at north end.

One other note, I don't know how the Housatonic runs anything in the station area.  Most of the ties are so rotten and broken up, it's inviting trouble.

Without a doubt, Canaan was one of the nicest and nostalgic stations I ever visited.

I live 6 miles from Canaan station & remember going with my father in the 1960's to watch the New Haven FL-9 passenger trains & the RS-3 freights come through.  Very fond memories.  It's my favorite rail station out of all the ones I have visited.  Recently read in the Lakeville Journal that reconstruction / renovation work my start up in August.  I will keep the forum posted if I hear any new updates.

Bill,
I think they did catch he teen-aged SOB's.  I'd like to know what jail time they served for the arson they committed, even though I realize in PC America felons have their rights to privacy.

You know if they were caught I don't think they served any jail time, they probably got probation.

One got a year; one got 8 months. plus community service plus probation.  Don't know about the ones under 15.  -ed

How many were involved? And was it ever made known as to why they did it? It's hard to believe that this arson was done about 16 years ago.

In the August 11th edition of the Lakeville Journal, Canaan selectman Charlie Perotti reported at the BOS meeting that the work on Canaan Station could finally start as soon as September 1st, if all the contracts are signed and completed by end of August.  Will keep the forum posted if I see or hear any new updates.
