Back in 1963 that was the Bellows Falls Hotel sitting directly over the tracks. Me and a whole bunch of others stayed there for the NER-NMRA convention. Visited Steamtown when it was there. Went down in the middle of the night to watch the southbound Washingtonian come through. Saw the southbound Ambassador with a McGinnis-painted F2, followed by a maroon GP7, an olive CV RPO, a cream and black CN lightweight coach and a Black Knight NH coach. A five-piece set, each a different model and a different color.sauced2007 wrote:
They couldn't run them because Bellows Falls tunnel was too short and they had already lowered it some. I ran trains thru there a few times and the track was always in water. They couldn't raise the tunnel because buildings were sitting over it. The route I'm "what iffing" would have better clearance.
