The Bellows Falls Hotel sat over the tracks back in 1964. I attended the Northeast Region NMRA convention there then, when Steamtown was still there. Three bucks a night for the hotel. Stayed up late to watch the Montrealer come through, rode the steam train from Bellows Falls to Riverside, saw the southbound Ambassador come through with two B&M engines (both different color schemes), and three cars (old color CV RPO, cream and black CN coach, Black Knight NH coach) - colorful to say the least.
It was said that any New Haven coach going to Montreal always came back spotless, inside and out.

I've read bits and pieces about state line closing due to damage. The quarry stopped shipping due to what? My dad worked for Lane Trap Rock out of Westfield Ma and he took me fishing at that Quarry in Stockbridge. I remember finding all kinds of rail left. He kept getting frustrated with me because he wanted to fish and I kept wandering off following track, lol. Since I am planning to include Rising in my plan ( making it a focal point) I was curious as to why the branch to Stockbridge closed.
