Mr. DBrion. I should have mentioned that it isn't a safety first video, and like you say a bench grinder, vise, gloves, protective glasses, and even a grinding wheel bit for the Dremel would have been better. I put it out as an example, and should have given a warning about the unsafe way he shows how to make the triangle tip. Thank you for pointing it out.
Ms. Kathy (if that isn't being to forward), wouldn't it be the extra 1.61 kilometer? Being from Knowle I figured you know which is correct. So, I shouldn't have asked. Glad I could help.

Rick, as of 10/7, there are 2 on eBay. Search Atlas EP-2 and it should pull up 2 examples.

This is the link - I hope it works

This is the same one I purchased last month.  Not a bad rendition.

Good Luck.

Mr. Abramson. If you are still looking for one, there are two listed at this hour at: https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_fro ... 9&_sacat=0. They are shipping from Hong Kong, and one is asking AU$33.49 (US$26.04), and the other AU$40.65(US$31.61). I bought mine from China via AliExpress direct from a vendor without any problem. The two links to Ebay I posted earlier are already sold out. Hope this helps if you are still looking for one.

Started to tear down my EP-2 today.

The young lad’s video proved helpful; my bench grinder, vice grips, #6 finishing nail, steady hand and so-so eyesight proved no match for the screw holding the loco to the track.

Interestingly, all other screws for the trucks are Phillip’s head.

Sand pipes will have to be removed - they’re part of the chassis, not the trucks and impede turning.

The body separates from the chassis rather easily although I haven’t gone that far yet.

Wheels and chassis are brown.  Wheels are plastic version of my Kumata brass EP-3: spokes no quills, just like Kumata.  Wheels will be discarded, side frames too early to tell.

Windows are glazed.

Mr. DBrion. Remember that the plastic used is acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS). ABS handles a little differently than styrene, and uses a different bonding agent. I use Plastruct's Plastic Weld Solvent Cement because it is especially formulated for ABS and is easy to get at my hobby shop. I have had some success using this solvent to bond small styrene pieces to ABS pieces when there will be no shear force on them, otherwise I use exopy cement for bonding the two dissimiliar plastics. Good luck with the modifications, and please keep us abreast with your developments. Especially the powering of the locomotive. I hope to do the same with mine sometime in the next two years.

Thank you for that reminder.  I do have and use a lot of the Plastruct weld solvent.  When I determine something feasible for power I'll let you know.  Right now all I'm doing is exploratory conceptual brain-storming, nothing detailed.

My EP-2 arrived yesterday. I must say for what it is I am impressed! I don't care for the gray roof. I plan on re-painting it.
