Thanks Mr. Flatcar99. I now have my pre-order for the 10003046, New Haven RS-3 #539, and 10003047, New Haven RS-3 #552 for the two Atlas Gold Series locomotives with DCC and sound ready to give to my local brick-n-mortar hobby shop.

I sure hope that Atlas doesn't plan on using that paint scheme! Those colors look more like Reading colors to me.

I whole heartedly agree with you Mr. Kasey. When I saw the off yellow on their website I had to think five times before writing down the item numbers and description for the local pre-order. Then I decided that if Atlas had the correct Warm Orange for their models of the HH660, they will have it right on this RS-3 release. However, if they are in the colors depicted I will mask, repaint the offending areas, decal, and enjoy.

Atlas should have the correct color orange, as they have done more that one New Haven scheme using that orange. Personally, I won't spend that amount of money to have to repaint an engine. Not in this RTR age!

I have a question/concern regarding the headlights on this NH unit.
With the illustration showing what would be the original factory paint scheme, will the headlights be the correct single-bulb version?
I ask this because I previously ordered an Atlas O-scale RS-3 in the as-built scheme. In similar fashion to this new HO version, Atlas illustrated their sales piece with a simple side view of the locomotive; no end view was shown. Silly me, I assumed that they would be selling a prototypically correct unit with a single bulb light. Well, after a very very long time, my purchase arrived at the local hobby shop. To my chagrin, I received a beautifully done unit in original paint but with dual sealed beam headlights. As we all know, duals did not appear until the rebuilds that bore the McGinnis paint scheme. With this hideous error, I had no use for the unit. When I tried to return it, the distributor told my hobby shop that they would not accept it because it was then out of production.
Short version: does anyone know if the newly advertised Atlas unit will have correct single-bulb headlights? I don’t need another “boat anchor”.
Thanks for any help.

Mr. Train144. I just sent the following message to Atlas Model Railroad Company via their chat service.
"Questions on the NHRHTA Forum about the pending RS-3's in the NH livery. One important question is "Are the headlights going to be the correct single lens, or the incorrect dual-lens that are incorrect for this scheme?" Thank you."
I will post their reply as soon as I receive it.
