I picked up from the Hobby Gallery at the reunion the new Atlas HH600 in McGinnis; beautiful job!

That's an HH660, not an HH600.

How did you attach the chains to the trucks?  There is no slot in the loop on the truck.  Did you cut the last link of the chain to open it or cut the plastic loop on the truck?

They should have done the original McGinnis/Matter version with the white side frame stripe!  These are the engines it was designed for.  Eventually the design was applied to a few S-1's;  Atlas DID do a model of that!  After 1960 +/- the side frames got painted black like the current offering.  So if you're modeling the 60's the Atlas model is correct;  If you're modeling mid-'55 to mid-'58, these would all have had white side frames.  For the time in between, check photos.  And as Henry would undoubtedly remind us, as modelers we COULD paint the stripes ourselves.  And there would be no need to change to change unit numbers.

Bill: To date, I have not seen any photos of 0929 or 0921 with the white sill stripe. That white sill was introduced on the SW1200s direct from EMD.
