It's been about 6 months since my hair finally quite shedding.  It seems to be getting thicker again since it has stopped shedding and I now notice a lot of new growth as I have major halo all of a sudden. Check out all the little hairs sticking everywhere:

<img alt="[linked image]" src="http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j247/ ... 0_2730.jpg">

Here is my every night sleep braid. I didn't have anyone to take a photo, so I was trying to hold the braid up, lol. I can tell from the pics how much thicker it is on the top half than the bottom from the year of shedding. I know it's going to take a while to catch up, but hopefully it will regain most of the lost thickness.

<img alt="[linked image]" src="http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j247/ ... 0_2746.jpg"> <img alt="[linked image]" src="http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j247/ ... 0_2748.jpg">

An updated length photo which really (to me) shows how much it has thinned.

<img alt="[linked image]" src="http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j247/ ... 0_2740.jpg">

My bangs are growing, but the shortest parts are still not long enough to pull back and I have to use bobby pins still. Everyone except my dh loves the bangs and thinks I should keep them. I know they soften my updos, but I just don't want to put in the time to style them. I am still undecided on them. Here is an updated pic of my bangs:

<img alt="[linked image]" src="http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j247/ ... 0_2762.jpg">

And another round knot bun just because I love the hair clip I made from a pin I picked up at an antique store:

It's good to hear your hair is happy again!

I'll agree with "everyone else," your bangs are cute and probably pretty trendy, but I completely understand not wanting to style them. When I was growing my bangs out it made me crazy trying to make them look like anything except bangs-that-weren't-grown-out-yet.

And I love the clip. I should try that!

The fringe adds lots of style and looks pretty! Your hair is so beautiful, I am happy for you that your shedding stopped and now your hair is getting full again. Of course, from my point of view, your length shot looks full and thick! You seem to have a fast growth rate, so in no time those newbies will be long too.

Congrats on the new regrowth! That certainly deserves a happy dance:

Your hair looks so thick in the braid, and the length shot just confirms that. Lori, your hair is so beautiful! Just plain awesome.
If I were in your shoes, I would be torn between bangs and no bangs. I can imagine that bangs require much upkeep... But they look so lovely on you! I understand your dilemma, and I honestly don't know what to say on the subject of bangs. I like keeping things simple, but side-swept bangs suit you so well!

Oh, and I love your new hair toy! It's so pretty. The color of the butterfly compliments your hair color nicely.

I'm pleased to hear that the shedding has stopped and that you're getting new growth. I understand the frustration of knowing that it's going to take years to get your hair back to what it was, but honestly, your hair still looks thick. And it's still definitely beautiful.

If your DH doesn't like the bangs, and you're happy without them, then ditch them. You don't have to please anyone else. Like the others have said, they do look cute on you, but then I've not seen you without them, and you might look even more gorgeous without them. If I could get away with no bangs, I'd never have them but I just look too awful without something to soften my face. But long hair with no bangs has always been my favourite look on others.

I think you look good with the bangs, but I also think you look good without them
I totally understand not wanting to style and mess with them - I hated that part of having bangs too, and growing them out is also annoing, at least while they're still too short to go into updoes...

Your hair in the length picture looks so beautiful!

Lori, your hair is inspiration to us all. I am so glad your shedding has stopped! Shedding is upsetting no matter how thick your hair is but your braid is still so thick and I am sure those baby hairs will catch up in no time

As for the bangs, I am in a similar situation. I like how they frame my face but they realllllly annoy me most of the time as they are always in the way. Bobby pins save my life. I think I will be happier with them when I can tuck them behind my ear and get them to stay there. I think the bangs look lovely on you but if they are too much hassle for you, you might be happier without them.
You could grow them out, see how you prefer it and if you miss them too much, well it isnt hard to cut them back in

Wishing you many happy hair days

Hi Lori!

So glad to hear that your hair is seeing new growth and regaining it's thickness!

I understand the whole bangs dilemma...
I have been growing mine out for a couple of years now, and although I love the ease of styling now that they are long enough to catch in a braid or bun.
*But.....
I still think I have way too much forehead, and would probably look better if I had them back....I dunno....

I love your flutterby.....so pretty....

I'll agree with "everyone else," your bangs are cute and probably pretty trendy, but I completely understand not wanting to style them. When I was growing my bangs out it made me crazy trying to make them look like anything except bangs-that-weren't-grown-out-yet.

And I love the clip. I should try that!

thank you!  I am still undecided on the bangs but leaning towards growing for now.  I love the 3rd pic in your siggy.

Hair type: 2b/M/C/iii

Primary goal: thickening the ends

Routine:
- NW/SO on the scalp, with periodical length
washes (Alverde birke-salbei shampoo for the length)
- brushing, scritching, preening and massaging daily
- occasional S&D trims
- trimming the ends whenever they start looking funny
Thanks so much!  I love making hair toys out of old pins and clip earrings.  I hope my hair does thicken up, but I am still completely envious of your thickness.  The braid in your siggy is so awesome

Progress from June 2006 - January 2011

2a/M/ii
Mid-Dark brown with natural red and silver highlights; fringe/bangs.
Starting length: 25"/62.5cm (BSL)
Current length: 33.5" (Cut back from 38.5" February 2011 following a massive shed.)
New Goal: Healthy hair that I'm happy with!

Current routine: Oil lightly before washing with a mix of olive, coconut, avocado and almond oils. Scalp wash every second to third day using Chagrin Valley shampoo bars. Finish with acidic rinse (1 tsp ACV or lime juice to 2 cups of water or herbal tea). A'kin conditioner on the ends when I feel it needs it.
Other: Oiling when required with avocado and almond oil or shea butter; S&D when I think of it; BBB; wooden comb; Mason Pearson comb; hair sticks, Flexi-8's, Ficcare, and other hair friendly toys.

'Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfailing beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.' 1 Peter 3:3-4

I know you can understand how happy I am to have the new growth after a horrible year of loosing so much.  I hope that your hair is improving also.  It's been six months and I am just now seeing the new growth that has been coming in.  It will take a long time to grow out & make a difference compared to the rest of my length.

It's geat your hair is getting back to it's former thicker self

Thank you.  I don't think of myself as an inspiration but that is so sweet.  I'm trying to be happy with it.  I look at pics from 5 years ago and would love for it to be that way now, but then I probably wasn't happy with it either for some reason .  I am too critical of myself, I know.

It's been about 6 months since my hair finally quite shedding.  It seems to be getting thicker again since it has stopped shedding and I now notice a lot of new growth as I have major halo all of a sudden. Check out all the little hairs sticking everywhere:

<img alt="[linked image]" src="http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j247/ ... 0_2730.jpg">

<img alt="[linked image]" src="http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j247/ ... 0_2740.jpg">

<img alt="[linked image]" src="http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j247/ ... 0_2762.jpg">

And another round knot bun just because I love the hair clip I made from a pin I picked up at an antique store:

I'm so happy you've got new growth. I have read of your trials and tribulations in the past year and you've gone through SO much. It's amazing you have any hair left at all! My friend has four kids and does (much) for others, and has a heart of gold...she says that by the end of it she's going to have one hair sticking out the top of her head and it will be purple.

Love the hair clip you made. You're so talented!

And hey, your hair has great cuticle! The shine from the flash in super nice. I've noticed that hair that's been dyed doesn't shine like that. When I'm sitting at church staring at the back of heads I noticed that daughters have a shiny halo from the lights above, but if the mom dyes her hair there's no halo. It was an epiphany for me. They're right next to each other so that's how I noticed. I'm like...all scientific, eh? lol.

Liliana, I will have to take note of the "halo effect" the next time I'm sitting in church. Great observation! I always love seeing this one large family who sits down near the front. They have five girls, and they all have lovely long dark hair that shines and shines. I wonder if my hair shines?
