Well, today is not only my 1 year Loomisversary, but it is also my birthday!

Looking back on the last year, I have seen 5 full inches of new growth (not including the few little trims that I had), and have gathered a wealth of information on how to better care for my hair, and also how to style it!

But the most important thing I have gotten from this site is my Loomie friends! You ladies (and gents) inspire me, lift me up when I'm having a bad hair day, understand long hair woes and victories, and are some of the loveliest friends that I have the pleasure of knowing...

Thank you, and I look forward to many more years with all of you!

P.S.---> Have some birthday cake!

And birthday to you!! Wow, 5 inches in a year with trims, how fabulous! Here's to another year of wonderful pictures and hilarious posts from you! I really do enjoy reading the things you write.

1cF/Mii
CO washing most days, shampoo 1 or 2 times a week. Detangler as needed. Deep condition about once a week with Nyle oil or plain ol' coconut oil. Regularly use coconut oil on ends when the weather is dry. Exfoliate scalp with sugar mixed into cheap conditioner whenever I feel like I need it. NO hair dryers, curling irons or other heat styling ever applied to hair.

23/31.5"/tailbone

My hair right about the time I started, I had tried to dye the bleached ends to match the roots, but as you can see from the next pic, the dye didn't hold very long.

November 2008 since I started using cassia. Not much growth since August but I Love the shine I'm getting from the Cassia and it seems to really be protecting my ends

Congrats all the way around to you my friend! I hope you have a great birthday. This year has been a great one at The Loom with you here. You have added so much here and to me personally. You and I are a lot alike in our hobbies! I wish I was throwing you a tea in your honor today. I would haul out the good English china and bake some scones, and serve them with clotted cream! Seriously... I value you as a dear friend Misty.

Lace, someday, I would love to have tea with you! That would be lovely!

You are such a kind and gracious lady, that I am proud to have as my friend!

P.S.---> I am planning my next tea party....it is for the little girl that lives across the street from me. She's 9 years old, and has never been to a tea, so I am holding one in her honor. It's going to be a Teddy Bear Tea...
She is very excited, to say the least....should be fun!

And happy anniversary ! I have to say that the picture with the hamster is so cute!

I'm so glad you found the Loom! I always enjoy reading your posts and seeing pictures of your beautiful hair . And the picture with the scones and tea looks so inviting! Wish we really could all just sit down and have tea and scones together. That sure would be fun!

P.S.---> Have some birthday cake!

It's great to be able to celebrate your birthday and Loomiversary with you. If Lace brings the scones, I'll make some jam (or do you call it jelly?) and put the kettle on. Lady Grey or New Zealand Breakfast?

Progress from June 2006 - January 2011

2a/M/ii
Mid-Dark brown with natural red and silver highlights; fringe/bangs.
Starting length 25"/62.5cm (BSL)
Current length 33.5" (Cut back from 38.5" February 2011 following a massive shed.)
New Goal 41.5"/105.5cm (Classic length) and all-natural hair care (almost there apart from the still regular use of hairspray - ouch!)

Current routine: Oil lightly before washing with a mix of olive, coconut, avocado and almond oils. Scalp wash every second to third day using Chagrin Valley shampoo bars. Finish with acidic rinse (1 tsp ACV or lime juice to 2 cups of water or herbal tea). Once a week use shampoo bar on length as well as scalp.
Other: Oiling when required with avocado and almond oil or shea butter; S&D when I think of it; BBB; wooden comb; Mason Pearson comb; hair sticks, Flexi-8's, Ficcare, and other hair friendly toys.

'Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfailing beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.' 1 Peter 3:3-4

Lady Grey too but I also enjoy New Zealand Breakfast. It's supposedly a limited edition so I'm planning to buy in extra so that I can enjoy it for a while longer.

Jules, does the New Zealand Breakfast tea taste similar to English Breakfast?

Was just curious, though it might be a nice change of pace for my upcoming tea party....

But perhaps more defined. Something between Engligh Breakfast and Irish Breakfast (and I like both).

This is what the box says:

"Inspired by the magic of birdsong in the bush as day breaks over the land ... New Zealand Breakfast Tea is a full-bodied and satisfying blend with generous, malty flavours. You will taste a little smokiness, reminiscent of campfires and billies coming to the boil, offest by subtle floral notes. This is a truly unique blend, unlike any othe rin the world."
