I wash my hair when I feel it needs it/I can be bothered, rather than the set routine I had. Currently using home made soap and the occasional bicarb rinse and vinegar rinse. I only comb my hair with a wooden comb or boar bristle brush. I'm trying to grow out my hair back to it's natural colour. Looking at getting my hair thicker this year and much healthier!

I'm now down to 29.25 inches. I'm trying not be sad about it as the whole point of me not measuring for a while was to concentrate onthe health not length of my hair. But below 30" is just depressing.

I've added a new progress picture to the list below. My hair is much less red than it was an much curlier. This is it washed and conditioned, combed into a parting and then left to dry with no interference. I swear my hair touches waist when I pull  it straight but it's barely past bsl here! It's still very fine but I'm coming to terms with that I think. It does look so much healthier so that is a plus.

I think I'm going to leave the measuring again for a few months. Maybe hold out til the end of the year. I need to focus more on the health still. I've done a lot of S&D, which is how I've gone backwards, I think I need to do some deep conditioning now.

Sorry you lost length, but understand not wanting to measure, it can get you down. Keep up the good work! It is paying off.

I think that must be about how fast my hair grows. So theoretically, I could extrapolate and see how long it would be at the end of the year.

Theoretically, it would be in the vicinity of 44-45", if I don't trim it/hit terminal length, and it keeps growing at this rate. Wow.

Didn't measure in last month and had my husband trim the ends so I find myself 1/2" shorter. I have found a lot of split ends lately too and I'm thinking it has a lot to do with our wood stove and how dry it makes our home. Thinking of doing a rainbow henna treatment tomorrow to help out.

I measured 104cm, meaning 0.5cm growth. It's less than my avarage 1cm, but oh well, nothing I can do about that...
Now all I can do is hope April proves to be a good growing month, and I hit classic (~105cm) at the beginning of May. A spring growth spirt would be so good right now

Look at all those curls and waves! I think they could be the reason of the measurement results. Curls like to cause shrinkage. But don't worry, you'll be down to waist in no time!

My hair grew again I'm sooo happy! I have to take pics from the back, I think it's possible I hit classic. But... just my longest hairs are at 105 cm. Since I have a U-shaped hemline, the strands on the sides are shorter. It will take some time before they join the longest ones. Anyway, I'm currently happy and will have to update my siggy pics

Looks like I made up for no growth last month - I'm up a whole inch! :D

An even greater victory for me I think is that a family member noticed last week that my hair is "getting longer again" which made me very happy.

I am still noticing a little extra shedding lately, but I'm attributing it to the fact that my hormones are finally getting back to normal from my pregnancy. I never had a major shed after she was born like I heard was possible, so maybe it just took a little more time? Who knows...

Well, I saw a quarter inch of growth this month, so I am at an even 36 inches now, which is just a little past my waist.

I am getting a small trim next Friday, to get rid of the split ends, so I will enjoy this length while it lasts....I will probably get about a quarter inch taken off.

Way to grow, ladies!

65cm /25"
Slowly but surely.

Not too bothered about the length. It really is starting to feel long-ish- and that is encouraging.I know there is a good year+ to go till I reach my goal, but I can see it is happening.

I am wanting to focus on treating it well. With my busy month last month my hair missed out on pampering! So, I am going to get back into deep conditioning and generally being kind to it.

on a side note- When I joined up here in Jan I wasn't sure how I would go with not using heat on my hair. Well, so far so good. I haven't switched on any heating tool! But what is better is that I actually enjoy my natural hair now. I just cut my bangs/ fringe (badly)today- Argh!, one of those silly moments. Thankfully I kept them long (only wonky and I'll take more length off if i try to fix it!) So, I am going to have to keep using the pins! And remind myself NO CUTTING fringe/ bangs on my own- because I am just not that good at it!

I only comb my hair with a wooden comb or boar bristle brush. I'm trying to grow out my hair back to it's natural colour. Looking at getting my hair thicker this year and much healthier!

Wasn't planning to do so, but since last August I have been dusting away. My last big trim was January 18th, almost two inches, and I recently dusted/trimmed into a Uee. I am right at 28 inches. I'd really like to be maintaining at 33 inches, wish I could go 10 months without a trim!

eta Isn't it easy to say "if I hadn't trimmed, I'd be at... !" Well, for little ole me it's this way. I "could have" been at 32 inches (!) if I hadn't trimmed at all since August :0 and this is helping me to hold out and not trim today, because I'm really, really wanting to trim it back for some odd reason the last couple of days. Perhaps habit.

After eight months of maintaining, do I see a difference? I think I do. But it is so subtle that I am sure that I'm the only one to see or feel the difference.

Anyhoo... I am going to try with all my intent to grow on!

I don't think I measured last month...and I am back to 40". My hemline feels great, so I am not going to trim anymore for now. The gray is coming in. Tomorrow, I will post a pic of the gray.

I measured 46 1/2 this month.  After some experimenting, I am hoping I have figured out a way to control the shedding.  Oddly enough, the longer I try to go between shampooing the worse my shedding becomes so I am back to every 3 days for now.

I didn't have much growth, but the growth I did have puts my length at 51.5 inches. When I see it in the mirror now it is looking so close to knee length!

My hair was CO washed and dried undisturbed in the 2009 photo, it is damp and combed out in the 2010 photo, and it is washed with Lush shampoo bar and Aubrey Organics conditioner the day before in the 2011 photo. I lost a lot to shedding in 2010, but it is starting to regrow.

2b/N/ii
35/50.75/54
Heading for knee length.

Oils: Virgin Coconut Oil, and sometimes Jojoba Oil. Sometimes I use unrefined shea butter, alone or blended with coconut oil.

Wash: Lush shampoo bars and Aubrey Organics Conditioners. Sometimes I use other shampoos/conditioners. I also get nice results from washing with shampoo only and then applying coconut oil to my wet hair. Wash at least every other day, if not daily, typically using shampoo only on the scalp region. Final Rinse with diluted raw ACV (because I have hard water, which my hair hates).

Seamless plastic comb.
Sleep with hair loose, draped over the head of my bed (it's low and smooth). I was using a sleep cap, but it started making my scalp unhappy to be covered so much.

Scalp massage seems beneficial to my hair growth, when I remember to do it regularly.

I put up simple videos on YouTube (but my hair underwent MAJOR shedding in 2010 and looks thinner now, I'm embarrassed to wear it down now). My channel:http://www.youtube.com/user/HairyKnees1?feature=mhum
