In honor of old Kouk, I'm giving the Italian version of CASTLE OF BLOOD a whirl tonight.
I guess you didn't get the memo from Mirek where we MUST post our reactions here to any film we watch. This includes any embarrassing thoughts that might include being turned on by nasty bits.

Perhaps a memo to post to the appropriate folder, but surely not a memo to compel one to post!

Reviving this thread as Garagehouse has announced the US version is coming to Blu from a 4K scan.
Sounds great but having just revisited this one recently, I am in no way interested in spending any cash on the US cut.

Later this year Garagehouse Pictures will be releasing Antonio Margheriti's WEB OF THE SPIDER (1971) on Blu-ray from an eye-popping new 4K scan in it's original glorious 2.35:1 aspect ratio from the original US theatrical negative. Anthony Franciosa, Michele Mercier and Klaus Kinski (as Edgar Allan Poe) star in the color remake of Margheriti's 1964 film CASTLE OF BLOOD. The disc will include a commentary, an Antonio Margheriti trailer reel and more! More details to be announced...

Just seeing a commentary will be done makes me hope it's not from Troy H. after listening this week to him drone on & on to no effect on his track for Margheriti's SEVEN DEATHS....

If we are lucky the US release has the stable scene with Julia,
it's being mentioned that all VHS copies were sourced from a TV print so no one really knows exactly what is on the US theatrical version.

I am guessing it restores some nudity ( maybe even Julia's ) but based on the editing done to various dialog sequences, it seems the movie was cut down first and then dubbed into English.
The extensive dialog trimming was certainly not just for television.

This does not a great reputation as does the original film. Still, having it in good quality is cause for a smile or two at least. We shall read more!

I think the lousy VHS copies helped give it a bad rep.
The director himself supposedly considered ti a failure, but I find it has an enjoyable atmosphere that carries it.
It's such a direct copy of CASTLE OF BLOOD there are no surprises plotwise.

I just took a look a the Greek VHS. It has the US WEB OF THE SPIDER print and runs 86 min ( in PAL ), but had zero nudity.
This could be a TV print as well, just going to have to wait for a review to see what's up.
