There were times when she was trying to copy him that she failed miserably and grew frustrated. She was tempted to give and walk away, but she couldn’t. There was that little thing in her that wanted to learn more, that hungrily sucked up everything he told her, and it would not let her go. The small elf found herself wondering if this was how Lanner had learned to become as he was. Hours and hours of repetition. Practicing the same things over and over. How else would he have developed his reflexes?

Eventually, the small elven girl knew that the knives she held, or any other weapon she would wield would become like another part of her. She wouldn’t be making all these jerky movements, wouldn’t be this uncertain. She would be smooth, a deadly dancer. But that would come in time. At his little quip Alanah made a growling noise in her throat, but even though she was already getting tired from just doing this, she threw herself into it, determined to make even more progress.

The hour past and even Lanner had a small sheen of sweat coating his face. Alanah stopped when he did, and nodded once or twice when told to clean the room and meet him after her lunch. As soon as he left she collapsed to her knees, both from working so hard and working up a hunger so great, she felt weak, taking deep breaths.

“Okay. Just get this over with, then go eat.”

Alanah set to it, placing the blades in the correct places (or the spots where they looked like they belong) then began to tidy up everything else she thought needed to. About twenty minutes passed before she deemed it worthy, and left to go eat, closing the door behind her.

Silent as always the male walked out of the room before erasing his presence completely and teleporting out in a small cloud of black miasma. He would reappear within the confines of his room to grab a few articles of clothing, which included a pair of loose black trousers, a crimson red sash, and his guild gauntlets. That was all he took before blinking out of existence again as one would normally take a breath and step. The male would return to this plane of reality within the heated pools area to soak in lightly perfumed waters so that he could wash away the scent of his own sweat.

The tattooed male would let his muscles relax for the next fifteen minutes or so before drying off and putting on what he had brought in. Stretching lightly and rolling his shoulders around the male would start walking before he ceased to exist and left nothing but a quickly dissipating scentless effluvium cloud.

Yawning casually the Lanner would approach the P.I.T.C.H. station he had told Alanah and begin to set up just exactly what he wanted. An apothecary building, something familiar to him so he wouldn't have to waste time finding where everything was. It only took him a short time to build exactly what he needed as he imputed the scenery from his mind into the system. Followed by building natural areas of which certain plants could be found... By the time that he was done from the it wouldn't be too long before his pupil would arrive and in that time he would nonchalantly take out a knife from his body and casually manicure his nails and cut them to size.

When she would see the rogue, he would be leaning against the wall. His chest bare of any clothing exposing his battle art, sword and dagger scars, a blackened hand placed directly upon his heart. (The signature of the Guardian of Darkness marking him as a follower), and just exactly how in shape he was. His muscles were defined as they were athletic, each part of him cut and chiseled as if he himself sculpted by an artisan, and if for a moment one forgot that he was an assassin with a sadistic streak... They would see a good looking male exactly in his prime that seemed no more than in his mid to late twenties.

"Ready.?" He asked more in a statement rather than a question as he put the small dagger he held to his forearm and let it sink back into his skin and vanish back into the blackened tattoo.

The small elven girl almost ran to the large dining hall, her shoes making soft thumps as she picked up her pace and arrived there within a few minutes. She was in a sort of daze, her mind on what was going to happen next, so she didn’t pay much attention to what was on her plate. When she actually sat down and started to eat, she did notice how good it all tasted, the slice of bread she had beside some meat and what looked like gravy. The small elf looked down at her plate, quickly glanced up, and ate the rest of her food quickly. She didn’t want to keep Lanner waiting forever.

Minutes later, she would find herself outside of the area she had been instructed to meet her instructor at. She knew right away that this was where she had to be, because there, leaning against the wall looking almost completely uninterested in anything going on was her teacher. Her lips formed a thin line at seeing him, the curious girl inside of her looking over his muscles and wondering if he was like this just because he knew it would be distracting. The teen inside of her however, almost appreciated it. But she pushed the thought away with a little difficulty and drew herself up as he calmly placed his dagger back inside of his skin. No matter how many times she had seen, or would see that, it always disturbed her. It just wasn’t natural.

In answer to his question she nodded, looking behind and around Lanner for a moment.

“So. This is PITCH…. What exactly is this place supposed to do…? I mean, I've heard of it before...”
She paused a moment, before continuing on. "But never actually been here."

Her blue eyes wandered to her the half-elf again, looking a little bit confused.

Meaningless acts would always be his forte, something so minute, something so engrossing at the same time Lanner had perfected it. Despite the fact his head was towards his hands which was below him his mind was as free as a bird in the sky. It gave him the chance to wander, to focus, to sense more than normally possible. His ears prickled in the slightest at the soft thumps of the elven girl's run and by the time she stopped, he didn't even have to know where she was nor what she was doing before she spoke.... 'Maybe in a couple of decades...' He chuckled within the confines of his mind while outwardly silent.

"This is Pitch." He started off letting a lazy arm roll towards the orb within the small room. "It is a very in depth illusion spell that literally takes over your senses. To what degree well that is up to me. However, while nothing is actually real in here. Your conscious mind will know that, your body will not. It will be fooled and tricked into thinking it is all real. Normally it is a place to train combatives, run mock missions, test pupils, and etcetera... Today we are going to use it as a learning tool since if I push you anymore physically you will break and then you'll waste both our times recovering.... Rule three: In the beginning slow is steady, and steady is fast. I'm starting you off on a light schedule... Keep that in mind." He told her in a serious tone, he held not mocking glance nor an impending doom voice. This was Lanner in a complete teacher's mode (like he should of been in the first place.). There would be time for his jokes later, and Alanah would more often than not be the butt of a joke. However as stated, that was for later. "Now we shall begin. Close the door and then close your eyes and don't open them until I tell you to."

Lanner would activate the orb with the pre-set conditions he had placed into before. Lights would suddenly swirl and explode over the closed eyelids before settling down; after a few seconds maybe ten at most he would speak to the pupil: "Alright open your eyes."

By the time she would open them they would be inside a greenhouse of sorts with many different medicinal, poisonous, and utility type plants and herbs. In the center of the two floor building was a large fountain with two hands cupping each other and water falling down the natural path the hands made. "Now then...time to learn what to eat.... and what not to eat..." He said with a smirk and 'walked' to the nearest table despite the fact this place was a lot larger than just a small little room they were just in less than fifteen seconds ago.

Lanner explained it to her. And the small elven girl had to admit that she was impressed with it. The room in which they stood was dark and small. Alanah turned in a small circle, just looking at the place, and wondering why .. Oh. That was why. If she tried to tell herself that she wasn’t the least little disappointed in why they were doing a simulation of sorts instead of doing more physical training, she would have been lying to herself. But at least he was being honest in that he was starting her off with what he defined as a ‘light schedule’. More would come. She could only nod.

The small elf turned to shut the door tightly behind her, turned around again and closed her eyes tightly for a only a few short seconds. But they may as well have been hours for all the curiosity she felt. Lanner’s voice cut through her thoughts and she opened her eyes carefully. At first, she was blinded by the natural light that was filtering in, but her eyes soon adjusted and she gazed in wonder at the sights around her. All this… was in that tiny room she had been standing in a few moments earlier? The thought was unbelievable! How could this even happen, but it was happening. All around her.

"Wow..."

Plants were everywhere, there were a very few that she recognized immediately and many that were strange and foreign to her. Her blue eyes were then drawn to the waterfall that was in the center of this place and she inched closer to it, before spying her instructor walking to a nearby table, and … she couldn’t believe what she was hearing. This was… not going to be as fun as she might have imagined for a split second. But none the less, Alanah followed him, her eyes wandering over to the waterfall again, before focusing on what was before her on the table.

The man strode in like he owned the place, and in a twisted sense of humor he kind of did. As he easily modeled it after his own green house, not that anyone in the guild would know where that was. Because, well... Telling a bunch of thieves and assassins where you lived and kept your valuables was probably not the smartest idea. However, he had no fear of Alanah simply because her ignorance as well as there was always the chance of a 'training accident'. And Lanner being himself, well that would surely just work itself out.

The larger half elf strode to the table and in the same type of manor there was a plethora of plants laid out in small groups. And each grouping there was actually the same plant, just in different forms. Whether dried, powdered, or in it's raw form. Though before they began he picked up two bowls, one had a small crystalline grains of which looked to be like sugar and the second one looked almost exactly alike however there was a small but minute difference in the other bowl.

Holding them both out the rouge would offer them to Alanah, "To prove my point I want you to taste test each of these bowls. We both know they don't actually exist however, your tongue will definitely understand the taste."

When he would taste each of them, they would get a pronounced feeling inside of her mouth. Sugar and salt, nothing more and nothing less.

After than he would set them to the side as they made their point, and now were nothing to them. "Poisons and alchemy is a tricky subject, some call it a science. But I like to define it as an art. Because not everyone reacts the same, nor does it affect people the same. As well as half the battle with a toxin is having the cure. As you never want to play with something that can kill you if you do not have the right antidote..." The assassin chuckled casually before continuing on. "Now I don't expect you to learn every single thing, of every single plant, and all the little idiosyncrasies today. Because well....you aren't. However by the time dinner hits you'll be able to at least name all of these plants I have out in front of you on sight. Now then, tell me all of the ones you know, and what you know about them." He said finishing off and turning the floor onto Alanah as he did before with the blades.

Her blue gaze would travel across the contents of the table, eyeing the different forms of each plant and wondering what exactly each one was used for. Aside from the ones she already knew or had an idea of how they were used. Then she was offered two bowls, Lanner instructing her to taste each one, and although the suspicion that he might actually be trying to poison her slipped through her thoughts, she hesitantly reached out and dipped a finger into each of the bowls. Her finger came coated in a silvery white substance, and she gently touched the tip of her tongue to each finger.

Salt. Sugar.

Oh good. He wasn’t trying to kill her… yet. She couldn’t really think of why he might, at this early in their training, but she figured it was good to stay on her toes about these things. Her teacher was talking again and Alanah nodded thoughtfully. She would have to make sure of having one on hand whenever she worked with these things. And suddenly it was like this morning, where she had to tell him what the pants were and what they were used for.

Her eyes were turned back to the variety of plants in front of them. Alanah looked carefully at each plant before she pointed to each one as she spoke.

“Ajural, it can cause hallucinations and the like. I believe this one is Asirra, I’ve only seen it once before, but never seen it used. These ones are cocoa leaves; usually people use them for making tea. Eireth, it’s used for several antidotes… that I know. And this one, is Hanamure. It helps with peoples stamina. The other ones… I can’t recall ever seeing them before.”

Alanah took a step back, crossing her arms and looking quizzically at the other five herbs that she didn’t know about. She would stare at them for a couple of seconds, before turning to meet Lanner’s green eyes and voicing a small question. And it was if she had never paused to look at the unknown plants.

“So what do these ones do?”

Now that the test was over, the shirtless teacher let Alanah move on as before. Letting him know exactly what she knew so that he could tailor the instruction specifically for her. Once she was finally done, he took a moment to plan out his next few words, then followed up on her original descriptions.

"Not bad... but we'll start off from the beginning here. Acktintaverie, it has thick leaves and when ingested begins to eliminate the sensation of pain. Though that is a double edged sword. While taking away the pain it also takes away touch entirely. To a point where if you take too much, you will not be able to move coherently or grip your sword properly. Often times it is specifically paired with Ginka root in case one does overdose on the acktintaverie, since it brings down the effect of numbness. Aleineiss is a rarer type plant not natural to Avalon. Mostly used by berserkers since the berries on the plants have an extremely potent taste not very applicable for planting in food. The berries send the victim into an uncontrollable rage and their their perception of pain and fear. So you can see the application... Asirra is a very common and easily abused plant since it is a sleep aide. However overdosing has the possibility to send the victim into a sleep they'll never naturally wake from. Brytild is a blinding agent, strong as hell too. Most people try and destroy it wherever it is found because it is easily blends into the surroundings and it is so potent. However to a trained eye you'll see that it is much more oblong shape and slimmer than a natural looking leaf. Especially when it dies out naturally the edges curl in and form a tube rather than turning brittle and flaking off.

As for both Cocoa leaves and Eireth you are only half right. For women, yes, tea is most common route. However, with men they like to grind it up and form a chew. Something they can stick into their mouth and let their gums absorb the pleasant feeling. More often than not it is also combined with the tobacco leaf so it is a like a constant buzz going on for about thirty minutes up to an hour or so depending on the kind of chew they make. As for Eireth, again yes, it is a common cure-all. Though that it not all it can do, when combined with glue and spread across a blade the effects are reversed. The glue turns that cure into a poison for the blood stream, but the effects are diluted and usually takes several hours for that specific poison to become deadly. It's usually good for missions where medical attention is far away and on smaller targets.

And lastly but certainly not least, Hanamure. A very good herb to have around. It increases your lung capacity, and helps you breath better and deeper. So if you can do that then naturally you have more stamina. It doesn't specifically grant you endurance and the automatic stamina. All it does is allow you to breath easier and more..." Lanner said finishing up his little speech. "So you got it?"

Whether or not Lanner was actually pleased with how much she knew, or whether he was annoyed with the few things she did not know, the small winged elf would not know. After her small explanation he would almost immediately follow up with a much larger and more in-depth one. For now, the young elven angel wished she had a notebook or somethingnso she could write all of this down and reflect on it later.... Or perhaps she could go and get a book on herbs from the vast amount of literature they had at their disposal.

At his question, her blue eyes would turn from looking at the herbs to the older assassins gaze and she would nod.

"I think I understand everything...."

Alanah drifted off into silence then, well, almost silence. To keep fresh in her mind what she had been just taught, she was quietly repeating it all to herself, locking it away in her memory until sh could either write it down or read up more about it.

It was a lot to take in, the assassin was not ignorant of this. While she could say she understood everything, he'd bet a gold weight to a copper slim that she didn't remember most of it. However, overtime she would understand these things and learn the poisoner's tricks like the back of her hand... For now he would just have to settle on the basics just like he did when he was teaching himself. While she was talking to herself Lanner pulled four simple throwing knives from his left forearm, one after another seamlessly flowed out and into his hand. From there he placed each blade upon the table spaced apart.

"Parma. Tekil. Siirima." The rogue said in a simple, but clearly enunciated voice. With each word and his hand over the dagger, the daggers began to take shape into something else. The first dagger changed into the size of a notebook, the next one turned into a charcoal pencil on one side and a fine quill on the other side, and finally the third dagger turned into a small crystal canter of dark liquid which was presumably ink from the looks of things. Lastly the last dagger did not changed into anything it simply stayed where it was.

"Take these four things, open your notebook, and be prepared to note down what I say." Lanner instructed Alanah and waited for her to do so. "From this moment forward, I am requiring you to have these things on your person. They will be mandatory to have, if I check or see that you do not any of these items we are going to have a talk followed by some remedial lessons that will be a ton of fun. You will have: at least four daggers on your person at any point day or night: One dagger hidden with magic and one without, a dagger meant for parrying and for use as an off-hand weapon, and one dagger meant for throwing... more is encouraged. As well to make it a little fun... after a certain amount of time, lets saaay one week. If I spot any of these daggers I will take them from you, and if I take it from you that means you do not have it. So we circle back to the punishment phase.

Next, you will have a notebook and something to write with. You are going to be learning more than you can handle. I'm going to pound facts, lessons, and lectures into you; however, I can only do so much the rest is up to you to learn when I am not around. I also suggest you go ahead and stock up on these items as you'll probably need a lot of them. Your notebook I will not blatantly take from you; however, if it is ever left unattended or not in your possession it may happen to get lost...

Third. You will need a poison or antidote on you at all times. This potion or poison will be ready to use at any moment. It will be made fresh everyday before you report to me, I will tell you what I want the next day before you are dismissed the previous day. This apothecary necessity will be up for grabs by me. If I see it I will take it, or if it is left unattended it will get lost.

Lastly. Every day expect to have 'errands' they will be tasks that I will set for to you, and I don't care how you get it done. But it will get done. The punishment for not accomplishing these 'errands' will be far more severe than that of a not having a mandatory item on you..." He said letting his voice drop off and leaving the punishment to her imagination. It was only for a second that he stopped speaking before he started once more to end his instructions. "Now then. Stop writing. Close your book. Repeat back to me what you need to have on you at all times and tell me what I can take if I see it."
