You may (or may not) know who is in the 'book', but if you had only 5 picks... who do you consider living Kenpo Legends??

I don't think there are any living legends, they are simply men and women who have achieved great skills.

Well I don't believe in fairy tails nor am I star struck and I certainly do not suffer from idolatry. That being said, many senior instructors have valuable information that may augment your skill as an instructor or competitor.

Depends how you categorize or define "legend." There are many in my view, and they all bring something different to the table.

A few of the seniors that a lot of people worship, I would not consider legends for several reasons. However, I would consider certain people that others may not.

Is a legend someone who moves extremely well? There are thousands of those in Kenpo. Is a legend someone who has ranked the most black belts? There seems to be a race among some instructors in that department, I've noticed. Pay the money, get the belt. Sad.

Is a legend someone who has brought together many of the Kenpo greats from all generations for several years to provide an amazing camp for all to learn?

Is a legend someone who has been around a long time (training with Mr. Parker directly since the late 1950's or early 1960's?

Is a legend someone who has fought for our country and killed on the battlefield having more real life experience using Kenpo than most?

I could go on forever.

My top three would be (there are several more but I am only mentioning my top three):

Michael Robert Pick
Dave Hebler
Bob White

Mr. Pick and Mr. Hebler were with Mr. Parker early on, and so were many others. Hebler began in 1958, and I can't remember off the top of my head when Pick began, but Hebler got his black belt in 1962 and Pick got his in 1965. Chuck Sullivan is another along with Tom Bleecker. Sullivan was there in the late 1950s and if I remember correctly Bleecker started in 1960 or 1961 I believe, but don't quote me on that.

Bob White is a complete inspiration. I try to model some of the ways I teach off of him. His energy, enthusiasm, and strong reputation are motivating. He has helped me in more ways than he knows and if he's not considered a legend there is something wrong.

The definition is very informative...

Based on it I would say there are many in Kenpo that fill the bill...
