Even though the activity level in this forum is low, Walt did watch and sometimes commented here. If you have not already heard, I thought it appropriate that you do.

Walt passed away suddenly three weeks ago. This weekend on Sunday there will be a Final Sweep by the Hyak Ski Patrol immediately following the area regular closing. The community is welcome to attend to watch from the base, and any past National Ski Patroller is welcome to put their patrol coat on and sweep with us. Chairs will load starting at 4:30 or sooner for uniformed patrollers only. No pass needed only a liability release signed.

The Final Sweep will include a toboggan tribute as Walt was prolific up through the Division level teaching toboggan handling and was on the US Demo Team for a number of years.

After the sweep there will be a Veterans honor Guard and a Flag Ceremony (Walt was Air Force) in front of the patrol building and then a roast will be held in the Milwaukee lodge.

If you knew Walt, come share in his tribute.

He wasn't very old, that is terrible. He lived just up the road from me and I talked to him a lot when he was building his place on Insbruck. I will plan to be there.
