It's forecast to snow a few inches on Thursday, Thanksgiving day. So you know what that means: the almost certain extermination of all human life at Snoqualmie Pass. This will be the hugest snowmageddon in the planet's history. The time to panic is NOW. Get out while you still can. THINK OF THE CHILDREN!

I found this on WSDOT's web site. Is this really "new" information? Does it work?

Mountain passes

In the mountains, State Route 123 Cayuse Pass (elevation 4,675 feet), State Route 20 North Cascades Highway (elevation 5,477 feet) and Chinook Pass (elevation 5,430 feet) remain open as of Nov. 17, but the status can change quickly. On Snoqualmie Pass (elevation 3,022), a new service will send text alerts for pass delays 30 minutes or longer – text “wsdot snoqualmie” to 468311 to subscribe, and “wsdot stop” to unsubscribe.

It seems that the intrepid and hardy residents of the Pass dodged a bullet this time, and most will in fact live to see the spring. That was close!!

I'm hearing Tuesday Dec. 6th opening at Summit.

Ski Acres Friday Dec. 9th, with nordic as soon as Fir spins.

If it keeps snowing hard, Alpy maybe the 10th.

Hyak 12/26, possibly sooner?

From the web site: We plan to open the Nordic Center December 17th.

Does that mean hike-up operation out of the Hyak base? Or will they spin a lift...?

The State says they will "evaluate" Hyak today (Sunday 12/4) and maybe start grooming for nordic right away. They will probably operate the sledding hill at least , I reckon.

Hyak will be Xmas break, not necessarily because of snow but they won't have employees up and ready before then. I don't know that for a fact, but its been a common issue in the past.

How is the coverage at Central? Will I need my rock board for opening day on Friday?

I think the coverage will be pretty good, but watch the high traffic areas.

Coverage was good, no rocks hit today, lots of little trees to dodge though.
