I was in line when the East Peak chair had its closure. Looks like a couple of wheels shifted to one side. Probably bearing issue. Talked to lift supervisor after crowd dispersed. He said the safety mechanisms worked just as they were suppossed to. No real danger. I am new to Hyak and don't want people to blow this out of proportion. Was a real thrill for my parents and the grand kids to be rescued by the ski patrol with ropes. They seemed to really know how to get them down. They were some of the last off. About and hour +.

My neighbor sat on the chair for an hour and was rapped off. He thought it was cool. The resort brought in a heavy machine to nudge the haul rope back on its tracks. They don't seem concerned about firing her back up next Saturday. Hope so.

They got the chair repaired by 2:30pm and said should be no problem for operation next weekend. Apparently a couple of the sheaves got out of allignment and the cable came off. Not a huge problem it appears.
