Well, out beloved GM is at it again now with Kick return man. I wonder how many drafts and years will go by before the Packers actually fix this problem.
Last real return guy was Allen Rossum...
Gosh this guy is an incomplete GM, wow...
I guess I just don't see this as such a big issue.
Jordy Nelson is more than adequate at doing kickoff returns - he ranked 6th in the NFC last season, and almost busted a few. He's solid, and he gets the ball to the 3o yd. line almost every time. That is all you need with this offense.
As for punts, it's too bad Blackmon couldn't get healthy - that said, I have no problems with T. Williams, G. Jennings, etc. fielding punts. In fact, I think it's more than acceptable to have these guys contributing on special teams.
You look at a team like Philly and they have their #1 WR returning punts (Desean Jackson). Look at N.O. and they have R. Bush returning punts. Look at Minny and they have their current #1 WR P. Harvin returning punts. So, why shouldn't the Packers use one of their top position players to return punts?
Guys like D. Howard, A. Rossum, D. Hester, etc. don't exactly grow on trees...and in the case of D. Hester, they didn't even keep him as a return specialist, because they said he wasn't valubale enough if he was just doing returns, so they turned him into a WR.
Saying TT is incompetent because of this situation is simply nonsense. I'd rather point to the lack of depth at DB, OLB, or RB if I was going to make a ridiculous claim like that.
