but who ?

and those clues can take you in so many directions within the US, even BD

DeLillo I'm afraid
We get it. You don't like DeLillo. Is he my favorite writer? No. But White Noise was an important book for me personally. It reminded me of the possibilities of literature. It does look likely it'll be someone from North America, and much sooner than I thought. We shall see soon.

Ok, I think LeGuin... but I hope Ricardo Piglia (I like what I've read and would love to see it all)...

Why do you, in becoming a crowd, look as plain and anonymous as a smear of dull and dying flowers?

Immediately I thought Adunis and then maybe Murakami.
Then on reflection I thought maybe Pynchon, "new guard" (as per reasons in 2015) v "old guard" (still dismissive, nothing new recently).
I do not believe it has anything to do with sex or nationality/continent, exhausted territory, unlikely to cause any debate to be drawn out.
Last year we (arguably) had a new form of literature, and introducing another so soon, would cause some disagreement I would expect. So maybe Dylan is also in the mix.
would be interested in reading the deliberations in 50 years time, if I'm around...

Is it embarrassing for me to say I'd never heard of this man's music or anything about him until I saw his name on nobel speculations? Not my generation...
