"Blindness"

Because "Blindness."
All we ever wanted was sanitary plumbing, straight roads, and a sense of belonging to a community of interest that could reasonably call itself civilized. (Charles Hayward)

Two of the best setups for Fall magic. Still, Garden without hesitation.

Blindness should not have beaten The N.W.R.A. It should not win here. Garden, of course.

While Blindness would make the twenty, Garden is top 10 Fall.

Blindness should have met Winter here, I can vote easily for it (Blindness) as it is.

Just made both polls 8-8.

I'm already planning to call for the deselection of anyone who votes for Garden.

Or any of the quarter finalists. It's a dull selection.

I guess this is democracy in action.

Blindness all the way, though really this should have been the final. Garden > The Classical.

Blindness.

For me, Garden's appeal is mostly its lyrics and its lyrics are pretty much all show and no substance. I used to love Garden more than any other Fall song when I was first getting into The Fall but it's gone down further in my estimation in the intervening years than any other Fall song. I think it's because as I've gotten older that kind of lyric doesn't impress me as much anymore.
Blindness is a work of genius, both musically and lyrically. It's concise and to the point, but at least it has a point. I listen to it at least five times a week and have done for the last 10 years and it's never lost its power.

Blindness in the final would be like getting mr. James Fennigs from Prestwick when you expected Aristotle Onassis.

It was the best political lyric of the New Labour/New Fascism Blunkett years.

96 days detention without trial? Control orders?? Blind man! Have mercy on me!

Garden is an example of MES's more sprawling lyrical ballad style: "blue shiny lit roads" and "kingdom of evil book" are inspired.

Blindness, like Reformation, is an example of how he's deliberately decided to go for more focused dadaist couplets in the last 15 years. Stripped down evocative phrases over kosmische/US garage music as against the early 80s post-punk beat balladeering.

Alarmed to see Garden three votes ahead. The PBL recording isn't even Fall top 50 to me.

An easy one for me. Blindness. It never fails to exhilarate, whereas I always want garden to excite me more than it does.

Yeah, the drum and keyboard rolls over "jew on a motorbike" are almost climactic, but it's not quite enough.

These are hard to separate but I'm going for Blindness as it will be interesting to see how it does in a showdown with The Classical. I'd like Winter to take the cup but that's not going to happen.
