What a godawful waste of time that is. Don't even bother clicking on it. Man is ignorant, can't write and has no idea what a 'review' is. It's just some stupid blogger sounding off.

A conceit so contrived that he even gets the title of Taylor Swift's album wrong.

Prat.

(edit - also "Putta Black" and "O! Brothers" - jeez).

Jesus, those italics are annoying. In case you're wondering, this is dire, there is no - count 'em! - no reason to read this review.

Can't you imagine Taylor Swift's 1984?

Hahaha. Based on these posts, you'd think he was insulting your children or something. Dont really get the hostility. It's just a review FFS.
Parts of that were entertaining. He's right about at least one thing:
Sir William Wray IS terrible.

I would agree with most of that. Except re Sir WW, which I think is great.

It isn't a review in any meaningful sense.

Exactly. Say what you like about the Fall - I, for example, sometimes think they're shit - but don't drop this kind of shit and call it music criticism, because it's not.

I like a review that tells me what the record sounds like, but this appears to be a dying art.

I don't mind whether the review is positive or negative, so long as it tells me what the record sounds like, because then I can make up my own mind.

This guy does at least give us a bit of an idea, and in that respect it has the edge over all those reviews that just say "another one from The Fall, their 32nd, drunken shouting, fires everyone, 7/10".

Ha ha. I hated that ‘count ‘em’ sentence in the review (so-called).

Had to look at it after all that - but you were all right.

Is anyone going to review the box set rather than review the box set reviewer? :)

We should have a thread for reviewing reviewers.

What is there to review exactly though? We don't need a review of the music (non-fans might but not us) so would it be about the booklet and what music is included and importantly, not included. I'm not very knowledgable but my understanding is that even with the full set, there are loads of b-sides missing, for example. Then it might be about the mixes / remasters etc. So it would need someone with deep knowledge to really have any useful insight.

Maybe this is the opportunity for that monumental career-so-far-overview of the artistic arc of The Fall's work, that I've been wanting.

What a cunt. Should be dropped down the deepest salt-mine and left to rot.

From the 'Louder than War' review:

'Opening with the brittle punk surge of 'Bingo-Master Break-Up' from 1974 and clattering to a halt with this year's 'Wise Old Men', this career-spanning 4CD singles compilation compiles all The Fall's singles on 3 CDs. Highlights include the upbeat proto-house of 'Living too Late' and their irreverent cover of 'Dr Pharmacist' by Sister Sledge. With over 90 tracks on 2 CDs, this long-awaited release is the perfect introduction for long-term Fall fans.'

 :applaud:

Though your proof-reading is too good, they'd never get a compound adjective like long-awaited hyphened.

'the perfect introduction for long-term Fall fans'

That statement is nonsensical

Is this review for real? Surely not.
