Latest album, Same Edges of Town, recorded Feb 2012, finished today:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/gc2xq6

A bit more pop in terms of song length & structure than the previous one I uploaded on here (The Absolute Signal, last December), apart from one 7 minute thing at the end which is more or less 2 songs anyway.

13 Tracks in about 50 minutes, samples of three tracks ("Hello? Hello? The Light!", " ... On the Pin", and "British Disco") available at the following site:

Enjoy, I'm taking a couple of days break before attempting to decipher the sounds of Bus Station Hangover Music, which probably isn't an upcoming album title ...

edit: (link probably now not working, will re-up one day ... maybe)

I have that program too, but I can't make head or tail of it... :(

I can find my way around the basics, enough for what I use it for anyway.

Started on the next album already tonight

the record is nice. spare modern, neat, tuneful, well-ordered . . . everything the other poster said it was.

I will mostly enjoy the songs as inserted random;y into random mixes. good to balance out the rock songs, but with something that still has good energy.

Cleanville Speaketh Truth.

I'm digging this very much, quite a variety of tones and ideas here. Right now, my faves would be D.E.A.T.H.G.O.E.S.O.N and Songs Aimed At Staff (along with British Disco, but I'd heard that before.) And of course, the epic closer... really lovely, melodic, yet not at all twee, stuff. B)

Thanks for the good reviews, nearly recorded the guitar version of ... Reserve? at one point (worked out the chords on it before doing everything on the computer as usual), maybe at some point ...

nearly 13 minutes in on a new song this evening, nowhere near finished

Sometimes it's fun to write a song on one instrument, but then record it using another. It certainly changes one's perspective...

13 minutes?! I've been working on a song all week... covering a song originally produced by Phil Spector, and using GarageBand to do it, may be seen as folly... :D

53 more minutes of music, made from the 3rd-10th March as a distraction from stuff, the bus station hangover music description's probably not accurate, I got a bit carried away with the first track so there's a quarter-length edit at the end

I'm having another listen, and this 'Diagram Of Wasted Trails' track (from 'Same Edges Of Town') is quite spiffing. I like the swinging 6/8 groove...

same edges of town is a gr8 record. 2d best record by anyone this year so far (right after my own). will have to d/l the hangover music album. I know I posted before, but my new point is that these songs stand up to repeated lissens. Not the most complex and challenging stuff, but the sounds just set so nice on the eardrum and there is a good pulse and a good drive throughout. This record is just so FRIENDLY and pleasant without ever descending into vapidity.

I wish The Bran Flakes sounded more like this.

I'm playing this now... excellent. In a way, it seems like a new direction, more dissonant and rhythmically strange than before, yet still very recognizable as Sleepless Beach Music. Lots of fun as always, and great to move around to... B) The standout track so far is 'Assuming Familiar."

And that cover art is ace (as was the last)... Gimp on! :D

thankyou :)

I think it's a bit more rowdier than the last two, it might just be the organ synth I was decorating a lot of the tracks with

I'm on the last bit of the last song now, and that organ synth is certainly lively on that one. Tis a good tone it gets, or tones, I should say... :)
