C'mon man. F-oldin' Money is better than Rollin Dany.T.L.B. wrote: Overrated - Cruiser's Creek (pretty standard tune-led workout), Bill is Dead (ridculously bad lyrics, leaden dirge, loved by all non-Fall fans), Edinburgh Man (mid paced ballady dross), Dr Buck's Letter (is it actually good, or was it just a relief that it wasn't completely rubbish?), White Lightning (completely shit)
Underrated - Tuff Life Boogie (fantastic Meters-style syncopated funk track, great one-liners, also the 1st song that hinted at the future fragmenting of the lyrical approach with the 'give it to me baby one more time' bit), Words of Expectation (zenith of the 82/83 longform style, more great lyrics), Living Too Late (written off as a pointless single at the time, totally hypnotic if you get into it), Rollin Dany (easily the best rockabilly cover they did)
Very true! The two first are the best examples of the Great Brix Feeling (the worst is Dktr Faustus). Will there be no more women in the Fall?rainmaster wrote: UNDERRATED
Vixen (it's lovely, nowt wrong with Brix vox)
Overture From I Am Kurious Oranj (more Brix penned guitar magnificence)
Happi Song (Eleni's very best, surely?)
The beauty in the eye of the beholder has always been so great to watch in these forums. I am totally on the opposite page. I love Dr. Faustus but think Vixen and Happi Song blow. While we're on the topic of Dr. Faustus, I will place Gross Chapel-British Grenadiers on my Underrated list.WetWetWet wrote:Very true! The two first are the best examples of the Great Brix Feeling (the worst is Dktr Faustus). Will there be no more women in the Fall?rainmaster wrote: UNDERRATED

We currently have Pamela on occasional vocals, I think she's overrated myself.WetWetWet wrote:Very true! The two first are the best examples of the Great Brix Feeling (the worst is Dktr Faustus). Will there be no more women in the Fall?rainmaster wrote: UNDERRATED

Yes! Unassuming but typical for the whole record.GlamRacket wrote:While we're on the topic of Dr. Faustus, I will place Gross Chapel-British Grenadiers on my Underrated list.WetWetWet wrote:Very true! Oh yeah. Kinda forgot that part. Not the finest Fall moment, was it? Ha.WetWetWet wrote:Lovely song, yes. Seems like common sense to me...GlamRacket wrote:The beauty in the eye of the beholder has always been so great to watch in these forums. I am totally on the opposite page. Get a Hotel and Twister are two of my all time favorite Fall tracks - don't see them get as much love from other people - I don't remember Brix even mentioning them in her autobiography. Both tracks (especially the former) have a hypnotic property to them that is excellent.thehippriestess wrote: I covered quite a few of these in the Forgotten Frenz series back on the ol' blog but the one I'm not seeing is Get A Hotel which I always thought was an absolute beauty. I think it gets overshadowed by being in between Carry Bag Man and Victoria.

"Overrated" = "Most people love it but I don't".
"Underrated" = "Most people don't love it but I do".
And even with the obvious subjectivity, the vitriol still flies from some people.

Quite right, I'm glad someone has reminded us of the actual basis of the thread.
Of course your suggestion of Bremen Nacht Alternative being underrated is nonsense, it's clearly highly overrated.![]()
Paging @flickeringlexicon !jerome wrote: The Mixer is underrated: perfect synth pop song. Two Faces is ace and underrated as is You're not up too much. @flickeringlexicon is wrong on this, but otherwise I'd agree with jerome.bzfgt wrote:Paging @flickeringlexicon !jerome wrote: The Mixer is underrated: perfect synth pop song. Yeah The Mixer is great. There's a couple of live performances that are top notch too, the well known TV one (below - the bass is just brilliant on it) but also one I came across on here but can't find now - quite late, not sure if Brix is there, live outdoor gig at a big festival, maybe in Canada, daytime I think. It's really pared back but mesmerising in that classic Fall way. Anyone know the one I mean?jerome wrote: The Mixer is underrated: perfect synth pop song.
