New Puritan

I'm gutted that it looks likely that my all time favourite Fall song is going out of the competition here. To me it's the great stand alone classic within the bands body of work. There really is nothing else out there like this - only the VU's 'The Murder Mystery' and Peter Hammill's 'Gog/Magog' come close.

What also defines New Puritan to me is that it is timeless and could easily have fitted into any Fall album from TT to SLT. For all of the erroneous talk about LBB's, YZN's  and the Elite  on this forum there is one truism - and that is that the music of the Fall is one continual flowing piece of work where everything is interlinked and connected. It's what makes it all so fascinating.

Still if NP's got to go it might as well be beaten by a worthy opponent like The N.W.R.A.

Would more-or-less agree with this, other than the fact that, at 24-34, it's certainly not dead yet...

But at 25-40 with the weekend approaching, it is. I'm genuinely surprised by this.

Voting this late in the piece I thought my vote for NWRA would be a sympathy one at best but very surprised, and pleased, to see it romping away with the tie.

Didn't New Puritan win the Peel Cup anyhow?

This is a surprise. If these were neck and neck like Tempo House I would not be surprised, and if the margin were reversed I would not be surprised. N.W.R.A. is definitely a heavy hitter, but New Puritan is godly...
