In The Guardian's reprinted interview from last year, this:

Do you ever get nervous before a gig?

Yeah, I get it bad hours before.  All these cities I go to, I never see them. They may be the most beautiful places in the world, but I'll usually go to the nearest bar.  I need a couple of hours by myself. I'd worry if I didn't feel that way. I'm not a frightened person, but I'm usually shitting myself.
My brain is the most complex thing in the Universe. Hiccup said so.

Kay's letter is beautiful. Read it three times and cried each time.

It is with great sadness we have heard of the death of maverick music visionary Mark E Smith. At least 3 of the original members of ADF were admirers of the Fall ( and one is still a fanatic) , while the man himself was very complementary about us. If you know anything about him you'll know that was high praise indeed.

(Sorry if this has already been posted, I have looked, and couldn't find it.)

Tom Ravenscroft on his show last night. In case anyone doesn't know, he is John Peel's son.

This week we sadly saw the passing of one of the finest human beings this country has ever produced. Mark E. Smith, who’s always been a big hero in our house: a constant source of pleasure in our lives since I was very, very young indeed. Always been there sort of shouting, barking and snarling at us in the background.

I didn’t know what to do with the show this evening: I was going to pack it with Fall records, but lots of people have already done that, so I thought I’d just play one track which I always loved as a kid and still love now. We used to dance around to this as kids, in fact I think we’ve got a VHS of the music video for it somewhere which we used to stick on. So I’m going to play this: this is The Fall and New Big Prinz. And I’m going to play this, in part -- a bit for my Dad really, and also for our own Marc Riley.

This probably belongs here rather than in radio play - The News Quiz on Radio 4 used "The Steak Place" as a musical clue; they use one 20-30 second music clip each week. There was no mention of MES (the question was about Wetherspoons having to cancel Steak Night) but a nice nod of respect in an unusual context.

Blog revived for MES tribute - "Fantastic Life: The 20 Greatest Fall Songs In No Order Whatsoever."
