Title suggestions?

BLY has already suggested "The Fake New Fall LP", which I like.

Any others?

How about:

- The Real New Forum LP
- The Fake New Fall LP Formerly 'Forum on the Click'

Tracks

I reckon we should do the UK version of the album and the two singles that are related to it - see first post above for track lists.

That would give us 19 tracks to dish out among 17 participants.

If nobody wants to do 2 (or even 3) tracks, then we'll need to ditch a couple.

MECK is an obvious one to ditch, but what of the others? Which of these should we drop?

- (We Wish You) A Protein Christmas
- Recovery Kit 2#
- Theme From Sparta F.C. #2

Edit: see next post about this

Track allocation

As mentioned in the album choice poll, I'll be dishing tracks out at random. If you find you're uninspired by what you've been given, you are free to swap with someone else, all parties being agreeable etc etc.

Having thought about the 'two tracks too many' issue, I'll probably do this: allocate the album tracks and unique single tracks (Mod Mock, Girl in Shop, and Portugal) first, and give the remaining two participants a choice of the remaining 4 tracks.

I would suggest dropping one of (if not both of) the following:

- Recovery Kit 2#
- Theme From Sparta F.C. #2

They are both fine & have enough variation to be different versions, sure; but since the forum cover versions generally end up being so wildly different than the originals (much of the time, anyway) I don't know if the subtle differences between 1# and 2# are really going to matter all that much in the end.

I think doing MECK (live) & Protein Xmas makes more sense, as these are the tracks that would lend themselves best to the project at hand (either representing a song not on the album itself, but adding to the variation (MECK-live) or a vastly different version (Prot.Xmas)) with different lyrics, musical themes & arrangement, therefore meaning more variety to the project overall.

Just my two pence.

See, I think having 'Proteinprotection' and 'Protein Christmas' would be a bit redundant, same for the second 'Sparta F.C.' & 'Recovery Kit.'

Then again, you can't have too many 'Spartas.' :D

Perhaps it's more a question of what goes on the bonus cd?

What are the chances that the original mix of this forum project gets "leaked to the internet" just before the official release date, causing Saveloy to demand new versions of each song from all involved?

I reckon for a bonus CD everyone should also do a version of TFSFC and we call it "No, I'm Sparta Cuts!" :-)

I'm seriously tempted by that idea!

Everyone who fancies doing an extra cover of Sparta stick your hand up.

Motion carried!

*bang!*

^_^

Right, I'm going to do the random track allocation tonight, with the aid of my glamorous assistant. Probably kick off around 8pm UK time (7 hours 10 mins from this post)

I'll post the results here and PM them to the individuals concerned.

11 Boro Maggi
12 Petula Macabre

Which means the tracks work out like this:

03 - Theme From Sparta F.C. = PeterL
04 - Contraflow = Mike Plow

Now, the last two -

16 JokerHystericalFace
17 otalgia

- get to choose one of the remaining tracks from the singles. Please choose one of these (first come, first served!)

- (We Wish You) A Protein Christmas
- Recovery Kit 2#
- Theme From Sparta F.C. #2
- My Ex Classmate's Kids (live)

Phew!

Remember

- you can swap with someone else if you don't like your track
- you can do another track AS WELL as the one you have been assigned, if U Wanna. Having more than one version of the same tune is no prob, we'll bung them on the extras disc, or something

I'll reveal the workings of the Random Selectorizer in due course...

Cheers, Saveloy! Your efforts are much appreciated. I think I'm going to do a version of (Birtwistle's) Girl In Shop as well, as I've got some things I want to do with that riff (unless flickeringlexicon wants to do a swap for my track).
