A thread for discussing the next FoF covers project.

Is there going to be one?

Who wants to organise it?

What are we going to cover?

------------------------------------------

Does everybody want to do another Fall studio album, or do y'all fancy something different?

Suggestions so far:

- another Fall studio album
- Fall singles
- songs covered by the Fall
- "worst of" the Fall
- an album by some other band
- TV themes (bagsy Stingray!)
- Show tunes!

WELL?

If you all did another album and then another and another etc, in about 10-20 years time you'd have covered every Fall studio album and that would be cool as I imagine it might be the only instance where the fans of a particular band/artist have produced alternate versions of every album they did. Especially one with so many albums out there. B)

And after all that time, of course, you'd have all sorts of new people - it might even be the case that all of us on here now won't be doing it but a whole new generation of Fall fans will have taken up the baton, as it were...

In 10-20 years quite a few of us will be dead. :(

What are the 3 that have been done already? I know Hex and Frenz but have missed the third somehow.

The first one was 'This Forum's Saving Grace.' Pete Greenway was one of the 'bedroom musos' involved on that one, that's how long ago it was. Only Conway has the links to that one, though... :(

I'm sadly not in a position to organise one, but I'll gladly contribute if anyone else is. I reckon we should stick with The Fall (there's not really any shortage of material, is there?) but maybe singles might be an option this time.

That said, I think Seminal Live would be my choice as there's a good breadth of material and some of it will probably be better than the original, if only by default. If we do, I'm bagsying Mollusc In Tyrol.

Me too, can I bring back my suggestion of doing a version of Ersatz GB I can listen to? ;)

Hmm, one vote for EGB, one for SL and one for Levitate. Maybe an actual album's not the way forward. Maybe a 'worst' of The Fall (and I'm using that word liberally, as I'm a big fan of SL and Levitate, not so much EGB) is an option?

Thanks for the comments and suggestions, everyone. :applaud:

Let's wait for a day or so to see if anyone has any other suggestions, then gather up what we have into a POLL. Unless, of course, there's a clear majority in favour of doing a particular type of project - I suspect it'll be another Fall studio album.

I'll update the list of options in the first post with any new suggestions that come in.

I voted for Ersatz GB last time and it was a close run thing. But maybe the moment's passed. I still think a cover version might reveal some undiscovered virtues of that one.

Looks like this is turning into a sign-up thread, so I have PMed everyone who expressed an interest last time round who hasn't already committed themselves here.

Them being:

CT
BLY
Boro Maggi
BoscombeScummer
Splart Plantation
Lunatic Engineer
Orphistic
Mike Plow

Have I missed anyone?

Thanks for the PM and the heads up about the possibility of another FOF project Been away far too long. Real life seems to have got out of hand the last 12 months, one thing after another squeezing tiime.

It would be great to take part but as I've barely been around I'm happy to go down as a reserve if needed and let anyone who's more active take precedence. I've not touched an instrument in an age but would be great to have a reason to.

Me, I'd go for a double album Yfoc / Ersatz.
But I'd go for Tv themes too. :-)
