I usually only play "Wake Up In City" (extremely loud - is this MES sounding his angriest?) and "Damo". Both great. The latter of the 2 might even be slightly better than the studio version on "Nation's Saving Grace", IMHO.

Er, I didn't really rate it. Apart from I Wake Up in the City. Which I loved. Just seemed like a hotch-potch of recent live stuff and mostly substandard B-side material just so's The Fall could release a "proper" album in 2002. Hardly essential in my book.
You watch, i'll go home now, play 2G+2 and love it...

Didn't listen to it for a while, was very happy when I did. I've avoided recent live stuff for a while, but listening to this made me dig out the chaos/america therein/in a hole stuff which has been gathering dust for a while. On the lookout for 27 pints - is it worth it?
If you're a fan of the "Extricate" - "Cerebral Caustic" period then "27 Points" is a solid buy. It's not essential like "Totale's" or "America", but it's not a shabby afterthought like "Seminal Live" either. Way better than "2G" too - two/2?

Yep, went home, listened to 2G+2 and loved it. Retract former statement above.
(er... "27 pints"?, you'll regret that in the morning). 27 points however remains my favourite live Fall CD - highly recommended.

27 Points is worth it just for the 'Idiot Joy' walk-off. Otherwise, I tend to be pretty half-hearted about any live Fall releases. It's never crossed my mind to order 2G.

Excuse my ignorance, but what does " 2G+G" refer to?
Where is the fun nowadays?

Typo for "2G + 2", which refers to the year 2002 (quoted in "Pander, Panda, Panzer", altho' ironically the gigs which appeared on "2G + 2" took place in 2G + 1). Diskojames admitted 'twas a typo in his 1st post here.

2G + 2 is the year 2002, is it? I Never realised this. Until the year 2G + 4. Only 2/1000ths of a G later.
What else am I missing. Am I are missing winner after all?

G = grand, as in 1,000. Like K = 1,024 and T = 1,024K. Even though they are usually rounded to 1,000. Er...

I always thought 27 Points summarised the "Fall experience" perfectly. Mostly rockin', occasionally dissappointing, some humour, a little farce and a few moments of sheer bloody brilliance.

It should be loaned to anyone asking "What are The Fall like, then?" To hand over any other CD would be less honest.

"2G + 2" is not bad, with the studio stuff, "Damo" and "The Joke" making it fairly essential.

I really enjoyed this Cd. It got me back into buying Fall CDs after too long an absence. Thanks to this CD I am now nearly complete. Because of this it holds a fond place in my heart.

I prefer '2G+G' for some reason and always think of that as the real title of the album.

This account of The Fall is true but for one thing: RESTRAINT
and The Fall are 95% about RESTRAINT. Yep, all the other stuff, though true, is only about 5% of what they're about. I don't pretend to know why, I just know it's so. It was always obvious that they could take no. 1 in the charts anytime they wanted on musical merit alone, and that MES could shame Plutarch if not for the 'cosy black fleck with green bits', but the deliberate radio hamming NOIzEz over the top and all through the otherwise irresistablly catchy tunes embarrassed most cap-sleeved and levi-clad would-be bambis of the day as it did the ball-clutchers, and it still does the bum-crack crew.
I never had a doubt that They'd last forever. It was clear they had the ammo. but in war you don't go about firing wreckleslly or you give your position, and your strategy, away - not to mention your ammo. So fear ye not that 'mouldy old accoustic case' came from the same place as the 'Strychnine', and you can be sure to be 'Crop Dusted' again soon.
Anyway, back to the thread; I love 2G + 2 - and was real 'bush :wacko:d' by the beclogged chap who pointed out the significance of the title. For me, it's always been the sixth album belonging to the Touch Sensitive box-set ( though it was released first, but then I didn't get it till after TS ). I agree with general concensus on 'Wake Up In The City'; No wonder 'The City Never Sleeps'. :banghead:

I think this one's total rushed-to-the-market dreck garbage. A weak EP padded out with second-rate live material. It's not at all unlistenable, but the much better Bootleg Box came out shortly afterward and at least there you can compare the tracks from show to show.

This one was a real insult to those of us who didn't care for AYAMW. I guess I just don't care for its material, in any context.

2G+G will be released in 995 years time. :P

I think that, like Interim, it should have been a single. But we all know there's much more money to be made on a full length CD. ;)
