PASADENA, Texas (AP) - A Harris County grand jury will decide whether a man who fatally shot two people he thought were robbing his neighbor's home --
acted in self-defense.
The man, who's in his 70s, shot the two suspected burglars yesterday afternoon in Pasadena.
He confronted the two men as they were leaving through a gate leading to the front yard of his neighbor's home.
Police say that just before the shootings, the elderly man called 911 to say he heard glass breaking and saw two men entering the home through a window.
A police spokesman says the elderly man told the dispatcher that he was going to get his gun and stop the break-in.
The 911 tape indicates the elderly man was told to stay in his house -- then came the sound of a shotgun being racked, then two "booms."
The phone line then went dead, but the elderly man called police again and told a dispatcher what he'd done.
He said he confronted the suspected burglars and asked them to stop, but they didn't.
No identities have been released.
There was no indictment. Police found the senior gentlemen acted in self defense. I wonder if he used buckshot.
