Either way the dog had to go, if it would attack him...then it would go after anyone the same

When I was promoted to Sergeant we had two K-9 Teams assigned to the Precinct. A 4X12 and a
Midnight/12X8 K-9 Team. At the weekly supervisors meeting on payday, they would tell us as much as they love their partners/dogs, if they are seriously injured/hurt or knocked out the dog is going to protect them. If ESU cannot respond in a timely fashion to tranquilize the dog we would have to shoot the dog to get the Officer medical attention or have EMS treat them. You can always get another dog they would tell us but you can’t get another Steve or Billy.

So true about the K-9 protecting his partner. When I was in the 103 the K-9 cop(Mike A) was injured, in I believe a minor 53, on 150 near South. His dog was in  the cage  of the RMP, going crazy  Well we wanted to take the RMP & the dog back to the pct while Mike was getting checked out, but there was no f-ing we were going in the RMP w/ the dog going batshit even if he was in the cage.Well Mike walked to the RMP told the dog everything was ok and to lie down. Dog laid down and he was taken back to the house w/no
Problems
