PC Kelly recently made a grand play to take over security at the WTC. I have a few questions about that.
First- Why? The PAPD is a professional, heroic and well equipped (and paid) police department. As crime starts to increase in the city and manpower goes down
why would we dedicate up to 1,000 MOS to this enterprise? Perhaps with less reponsibilities the PAPD will shrink and thus the NYPD will lose less veteran
officers to greener pastures.
Seond- There is a man on a bike bombing places all over the city. One of those places was across the street from a precinct, the other was one of if not the
most sensitive terrorist location. Times Square. Times Square was under NYPD protection yet was bombed anyway. Does the Commissioner think that the NYPD could
have stopped those two Boeings that came screaming into the city at 500 mph on September 11?
It simply appears to be a power grab to satisfy an insatiable ego.
